Finishing Bayer Museum Of Agriculture, Outside

Yes, with this done, I can move on to another location this weekend.

I guess I could mention that Uverse service for internet and homephone has been quite good so far. I've only had to reboot the modem once. Should probably do that once a week. 

A Sunday drive to Acuff and Roosevelt might be just right. I'll see if I can locate some old landmarks. Or maybe something might actually be new. That would be a surprise.

And after that, I see no reason ever to return to Acuff. It's actually a pleasant drive. But there are other places to go.

That's it. I might visit the Windpower Center on the other side of Broadway someday, too. In fact, I HAVE to do that if I'm going to retrace steps...

Bayer Museum Of Agriculture-- Outdoors

I finally got the pics of things outdoors.

Hot and dry weather permitted me to get out of the car and do some walking among these exhibits. It was too hot and too dry, actually, but I got what I wanted.

I probably won't be going back here. I was still using the Kodak on these.

I'll finish this the next time.

The Old Hog Feed Lot

Yep, when I visited Economy Mills a while ago, I promised to visit that old hog feed lot nearby, and I did, and amazingly, while I was out there taking photos, the gentleman whose father owned the feed lot drove by and said Howdy. I explained to him what I was doing and he shared some of his memories with me. That kind of thing can only happen in Lubbock, Texas.

This place has been cleaned really well. There is no trace of any odor. It used to be pretty bad, frankly.

 I used the Kodak's modest zoom feature to capture the underpass.

This is not a residential area, obviously.

While I was there I got more shots of Economy Mills.  I see no reason to return to this site. I can cross it off my list. 

Another Junk Zone, Playa Lake, Infrastructure

All this stuff is on Elgin, near an apartment complex. I've driven by many times but it finally occurred to me to drive into the alley and see what I could find. 

 An illegal dump should be no surprise.

 This sort of thing is what you find most frequently in Lubbock's illegal dumps.

 I have no idea how these slabs of concrete might have gotten here.

 The fifty gallon drum seems to be an improvised heater. Do homeless people shelter here?

This playa lake is a common sight from the loop frontage road. Several years ago a corpse was found floating in it. I can't remember whether foul play had been involved.

 There was a fence around this lake but boards were missing and anyone who wanted to could get through the fence. I merely aimed my Kodak through the gaps and used some zoom settings.

The illegal dump is right behind a major electrical substation/distribution point in the city's power grid. Right across the alley is the apartment complex.
