Closer Looks 27

Quite chilly here this morning! In the past, a snowfall in mid-April has not been an unusual event, followed the next day by heat, high winds and blowing dust by the afternoon. It's really, really, FLAT around here, and we're about 3000 feet above sea level, which makes for a strange climate.

I've just recalled the big small house revolution in Spur, Texas. I have not heard much about it. Not in years. I wonder how that's working out? I guess I'll never know because I don't intend to go back there. That's one of many places I've scratched off my list of destinations, for a number of reasons.

Closer Looks 26

Nice and cool this morning but dust is inevitable. Not a snowball's chance of rain.

I'm pretty sure now that these are photos taken in Plainview, because I recognize these monuments. I wonder how Plainview is doing these days? Not that I really care.

Closer Looks 25

It is nice and cool this morning! It was not so bad yesterday, with not a lot of wind by our standards, and very little dust in the air. Maybe someday, before the end of this decade, it will rain! At least by the end of the century... maybe.

Same location. I know, sights like these will make viewers eager to visit! "Oh my God! Pack up the kids, Thelma! We have GOT to visit Lubbock, Texas, and all the little towns around it! Forget about the beach! Stuff the mountains! We're on our way to the flatlands of TEXAS!!"

Closer Looks 24

The best rain chances we've had in a long time vanished amid high winds and blowing dust. A dud deluge. The weather forecasters played it up big. Heavy rain! Pounding hail! Nada.

These closer looks have a green theme, and they do not show Lubbock. I can't remember where this was. Something tells me it might have been Plainview. But I could be mistaken. Wherever it was, I don't go there anymore.

Closer Looks 23

Humidity. That's as good as it gets around here. Enjoy the humidity. Significant rainfall? Forget about it.

It would take a one hundred year rainfall event, the kind of thing you might see once in a hundred years, to undo the current drought. Don't hold your breath. I'm not able to understand why people are moving here. They must have been misled/misinformed. The city does have a "water plan". In my humble opinion, any water plan they might have is based on fantasy and wishful thinking.

I added a link in the link list down at the bottom to Brian May's official YouTube channel. I mean, what other guitarist has a doctorate in astrophysics??

Closer Looks 22

Lubbock had a tiny bit of rain in the early morning hours. Just a tiny bit. Wow.

I continue to try my best to live in the past, while coping with the present. I do my best to resist change, but various circumstances force me to deal with unwanted changes. What a drag.

Closer Looks 21

It's looking a little bit like it might rain today. I'll believe that when I see it.

Meanwhile, even when I try to keep my life as simple as possible, complications arise.

Closer Looks 20

Parts of Texas continue to burn, nice weather here, and better rain chances. Dust levels have not been so bad lately. Tolerable, at least.

Life goes on, whether we like it or not.
