More Photos Of Lubbock Ruins

At the moment, we are in a disaster area-- Lubbock County has been declared a disaster area, due to unprecedented snowfall and low temperatures that prevent the stuff from melting. The city has been at a virtual standstill for several days. We have decided to try to get one of our cars out later today, but we are going to drive only a short distance for a few supplies.

These photos continue the Lubbock downtown series. I have many more of them.

It'll take a long time for all this snow to melt. Lubbock is not equipped to handle a heavy snowfall, since events like this are so rare here.

The economic and social costs of this snow event are going to be major.

Still Exploring Downtown Lubbock, Texas

Until recently, many of these structures were too difficult to approach. We seem to be looking at the city's old transformer shop, bits of the old Holly Avenue Power Plant, and perhaps an old dairy.

This is what I mean about Lubbock's downtown area having an abundance of ruins.

Christmas In Lubbock

As promised, some Christmas pictures, of lights at night, around town, but mostly in an area not far from where we live.

Merry Christmas, to all! Yo ho ho, and a bottle of rum-- wait a minute, that's not quite right! Mike Leach got a pirate thing going around town, years ago, before Kent Hance did him dirt, and sometimes we get confused.

Finishing The Photo Series

But I'll be starting a new one soon.

I'll have some Christmas stuff, maybe a little late, but better late than never, and more views of Lubbock most folks never see.

More Lubbock Photos

See Lubbock on my blog and avoid having to travel to Texas. It might be the safest thing to do...

Besides, if you visited Lubbock you would probably not see the really interesting stuff, and what I show you here IS the really interesting stuff.

The usual travel guides specialize in delusional, self-aggrandizing crap. If all you want to see is the outside of that old whited sepulcher, I guess that's fine. by all means, let the chamber of commerce be your guide. But if you like to look INSIDE, if you want REALITY, my blog is for you.

These are the things that abide, once delusion and pretense are stripped away. My kind of stuff!
