Very nice shower we had overnight, and no hail! If this keeps up the drought here might get a dent in it. Rain chances continue all week, and temperatures will not be uncomfortable. I sure can't complain about the weather right now. We go from eating dirt to this in a matter of a month or so. Why, July 4th might be a total rain out, as it was in 2010! That would be terrific, but let's take this a day at a time.
This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

Pros And Cons
There are pros and cons of course, to living in Lubbock. It could be worse. Sometimes I'm more annoyed by the cons than pleased by the pros, and vice-versa. Lubbock's conservatism is annoying. There are too many people who have enlisted in particularly stiff-necked and fundamentalist religious cults. Nobody needs ignorance and bigotry. But if you can get past that obnoxious bullshit it's not so bad. I do my best to tune it out. The climate can be rough but it's much worse farther north and if you go south you are sweltering in high humidity and in general there are few places on the planet that really have a very congenial climate, and there will be fewer of those as time goes on. I think I'll try to focus on the positive! By golly, it's another nice morning! My private jungle is greening up nicely! I've got me a damned fine cup of coffee! I took care recently of some long-neglected business! I have pretty much got my ducks in a row! And so on.
Life really is like a box of Choke-A-Lots! Sometimes you choke a little, sometimes you choke a lot, and someday you'll choke to death. Yee-HAW! What a grand and glorious thing is this thing called "life"!

Wow!
Our weather this May continues to be terrific! May it continue. Ha. Ha. I did have to water, and I continue to water, because the effects of those recent rains are wearing off. I like to water because it always feels like I'm putting another nail in Lubbock's coffin. Lubbock probably needs a stake through its heart, but that's too much for me. I always remind myself that I can only do so much.
I drove recently into parts of Lubbock I have not seen in over five years, and the experience gave me the willy shivers. I hated it. I never want to see it again. Where the hell have all those people come from? Stay away! I'm so glad nothing like that is happening where I live.

A Little Rain
It rained overnight, but it does not seem to have been very much. I think I will water this evening. Yesterday I spoke to someone about our water situation and learned about a farmer in the area who has given up. Not enough rain and his wells were too expensive to operate. I think we'll see more and more of that. We discussed the Roberts County wells. We decided that the outlook for Lubbock and the other towns around here, is not very good. And I had occasion to drive into areas of Lubbock I have not seen in five or more years, and I was astounded by the development. It looks to me as though a lot of people are living in a fantasyland. Of course, the developers and home builders are making a lot of money, and if we have a water crunch, no problem. They can take the money and run. Not so for most of the rest of us. I know Lubbock has a "water plan" but I wonder how realistic it is, especially in light of climate trends. I would be surprised to find that it acknowledges any sort of climate trend, since that wouldn't conform to conservative ideology. In other words, any water plan the city might have would most likely not be founded upon good science. I haven't been able to find any specifics about such a water plan.
I found a better way to manage these images. Makes things a lot easier.

Top Priority!
Keeping life simple and avoiding complications has been my top priority since 2017, at least. It's amazing how hard that is to do. I think our rain chances are diminishing rapidly. It looked a bit like it might rain last evening but only a few drops fell. We could sure use more. Maybe this weekend.
I was advised once to "relinquish the illusion of control". That was good advice that I've found hard to follow. It seems that I can control very little, and can't even exert much of an influence. Stuff keep happening. Decisions always need to be made, and it seems that if something CAN go wrong, then it will. Such is life.
