Even Less Garden

Soon those pics will be used up. But I scoped out some stuff downtown this morning.

I'm getting tired of this stuff anyway. And now I'm thinking that I might just undo the entire garden and let the lawn reclaim it. Because it's a lot of work. I made that garden in the first place for my wife to enjoy. She's not here anymore to enjoy it and most of this summer it's been too hot for me to enjoy it, not to mention the mosquitoes. Or, I could undo the expansion she never got to see in full bloom. I almost had it completed the week before she died. I finished it, but now I wish I'd just let it be, let the grass regrow, which would have happened quickly. That might be the best move. I'll have to think about it.

Using Up These Pics

Maybe I was just too lazy to do anything else.

If that's the case, no apologies.

All I want is to survive this summer. Too hot and too dry for too long. You know what I'd like? The sudden onset of another ice age.

Running Out Of Garden Pics

I'd better get out this weekend and find some ruins or junked cars or new alleys!

I think I did as much as I could with these sunflowers.

Late one evening I managed to hold the camera steady enough to get this shot:

Not Finished With Garden

I've located a few candidate sites for the kinds of things I like to photograph but I don't know when I'll get to them. I'm kind of waiting for that first detectable norther. Too hot for far too long. June and July are rotten months as far as I'm concerned. August is usually hot but it isn't unusual to have some relief from the relentless heat in mid to late August.

Special effects used here.

And I might just scrap the sunflowers next year-- plant something else. I keep thinking it might be interesting to plant corn. The stuff grows taller than the sunflowers and I'd actually have something I could eat. If I expanded the garden, watermelons might work well in that new section. I don't think I'd run afoul of the city's zoning regulations. It might be an interesting experiment.

More Garden From Earlier In Spring

Recent rains have really made this garden a lot more like a jungle. It is not as dense or wild as it was last year but I know what I need to do to correct that. Just lots of work next year!

At this point the finches are able to eat sunflower seeds from the sunflowers themselves. Of course, I still fill the feeders.

At some point I will search for much earlier pics of this garden, from years ago, and post those. It's changed a lot. At first I had something else in mind. It kind of evolved, almost taking on a life of its own. Strange.
