Acuff And The Famous Steakhouse

I see no need to ever make this drive again, unless I actually decide to EAT at the steakhouse. And it does seem to be spruced up and a viable business. I am just not sure when they are open. Someday. Someday. But never again will I photograph anything there. This was another nostalgia trip. Getting there can be a pleasant drive in the right weather, and this last Sunday the weather was ideal. So I did it solo, with very mixed feelings, but it was all part of my project to retrace our old wanderings. Later that day I became very depressed. Oh well.

For a long time we were not even sure whether they still served meals here, but judging by the new sign and the neat interior I viewed through this window, I think they are in business. I'm just not sure when they are actually open. In the evening? In the afternoon? Only on certain days of the week? I really would like to eat here again-- my wife and I ate here, once, and it was kind of a neat experience. But that was even before we were married. At that time it was kind of an all-you-can-eat buffet.

This is even a new sign, and it says "OPEN" and when the neon is lit, this place surely MUST be open. But when is it lit??

Apart from the world famous Acuff Steakhouse, there is not a whole lot in Acuff. There were some guys down the road working on trucks. There's a cotton gin. There's an old house that has been there for a long time (I photographed it years ago when my wife was with me) and now it looks like somebody is trying to fix it up. Apart from that, not much. I'll finish this next time, with a detour to Roosevelt. That detour was yet another nostalgia trip.
