We are back in Lubbock and viewing some structures that sold beer on the Tahoka Highway south of Lubbock, in the days when Lubbock was "dry". Of course it was never really dry. There were bootleggers all over town. There were "private clubs" all over town. And at least half the population drove to the strip every Friday and Saturday to load up on beer, and wine and whatever. Lubbock's liquor laws were stupid and ineffective but they made some people feel good about themselves. We are sooo righteous. We are sooooo much better than everyone else. Sure.
These are some of the surviving structures.
These buildings seem to be in use for storage, now.
It was an overcast day when we drove out here.
"Do not throw stuff against back wall." Good advice. Never do that.
The bold and flashing signs are gone. And good riddance to them. Good riddance to stupid laws concocted by idiots. Unfortunately, there are many more such laws in Texas. And we are not likely to run out of idiots.
There's a bit more of this still to come, and then we start exploring some county roads, out in the boonies.
