This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!
More from Brownfield. This interesting and attractive city is smack dab in the middle of a major grape producing region in Texas. They are currently having a wine festival in Brownfield. No wonder the city seemed saner and more civilized than others we have visited lately. It's interesting that some of the same gun nuts in this area who will tell you that "guns aren't the problem because PEOPLE kill people" will turn right around and lecture you on the evilsof alcohol, as though alcohol caused alcoholism. PEOPLE, some of them, abuse alcohol. And some people have addictive personalities, and some people are very vulnerable to the effects of various intoxicants. I happen to enjoy a glass of wine, and even the occasional beer. So don't give me the temperance lecture.
The next large installment of photos were taken in Brownfield, but first I want to put up a few pics of our wildflower garden. It is attracting numerous butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, which was the intention. It is constantly in flux. Not only are the wildflowers growing rapidly, I add things to the layout. For instance, since these pics were taken I've added a heavy ceramic planter. Soon I'll transplant some lantana to that planter.
As usual, I took these pics in EAST LUBBOCK, a part of town nobody seems to care about, and that includes the worthless deadheads on the city council who are supposed to represent this area.
We were in this area because I was trying to find a place where I worked, once, years and years ago, in a small business making shutters for mobile homes. I think the vacant lot is where the building once stood.
The site seems to be yet another illegal dump. Lots of those in Lubbock County...
