Right out of the fifties.
Those were not the good old days, unless you were the right color. Wrong color, and in the wrong part of the country, and they were very bad days. In fact, there never were any good old days. A myth. Maybe you were fortunate, and YOU had some good old days. But a LOT of other people had shitty old days.
We are told again that COVID will go away. So, on what rational basis would one think that? Apart from wishful thinking? A RATIONAL basis. No rational basis has been provided, for thinking that COVID will "go away".
What I need to find next time is a junkyard. I wonder if I could get into one of those wrench-a-part places with a camera?
I could revisit the Buddy Holly Center for the Performing Arts. Interesting question as to when it can ever be used, given this pandemic. Don't expect a vaccine. Ever. Corona virus has never been amenable to vaccines. That kind of virus is what causes the "common cold". And you can't vaccinate against those strains of Corona virus. Nor do you acquire any immunity to catching colds. But there are still many unknowns. You know who can answer the questions? Scientists. Not politicians, not pundits, not preachers, not conspiracy theorists. ONLY scientists. If you want to know how things work, you have to do science. Period. When it comes to obtaining knowledge of how the world works and how it is constructed, science is the only path. Aristotle reasoned about the world and never performed an experiment. He came up with lots of garbage. Galileo made observations, performed experiments and made measurements and found mathematical relationships. Everyone should learn scientific method, and be familiar with the basic concepts. Alas, such things are not taught in elementary school, where science education should begin. Once begun, it should never end. Just my opinion.
We'll still be in this alley next time.
By the way, Dan "shit-for-brains" Patrick doesn't know what HE'S talking about. Trust Fauci, and NOT Dan "shit-for-brains" Patrick!
I wasn't sure when I'd get out again so I wanted to make this count. I don't know what the city has planned for July 4th. Haven't heard or read anything. Still 4th On Broadway? Fireworks in McKenzie Park? Some kind of musical event in the Fair Park Coliseum? Street dance?
It's been a long, long, time since I've done any of that stuff. My wife and I did the fireworks in 2012 and 2013.
Still not finished.
One thing amazed me-- no signs of a homeless presence. That is unusual.
The USA has the highest COVID mortality rate in the world, as well as the highest infection rate. No surprise from "for-profit heathcare". Great doctors, great nurses, poor access, high prices and crappy health plans that cost too much. A lot of people who get sick and manage to recover will be crippled for the rest of their lives with medical bills. The rich love it, and people who think they're rich but aren't, and the rest of us are screwed. Amerika. With a "K". Or is it "3K"?
By the way, several years ago I froze my credit records with every major agency. All FOUR of them. Still frozen. Let them stay that way. Too many vipers. Lots more alley to go. Oh, yeah, I froze my wife's records too, and they are still frozen. And so they shall remain.
Plenty of sights. When I'm finally finished with this it'll be back in the garden again. Should be safe enough in THAT jungle.
It's unlikely that I will ever find another alley as interesting as this one was.
When I began this, taking these photos, there were far fewer cases of COVID locally and nationally, and in the rest of the world. Now there are many more cases. And when I finish there will be many, many, more cases than there are today. You sort of wonder how long some people can stay in denial. I'm sure some people will go to their graves in denial: "It's all a hoax!" Could be a good epitaph. Carve it on their tombstones.
