Ropesville, Texas

Ropes, as the locals call it! Let's take a look at this bad boy! Ropes has had a few problems lately, and some of the inhabitants fear that people will not travel to Ropes to do their shopping!! Yeah, lots of people, people of high style and high fashion, travel miles and miles from Lubbock to do their shopping in Ropes. Shop in Ropes! Do your shopping in Ropes! The people there will welcome you.

We spent a lot of time in Ropes, and we took a LOT of photos. I will leave you to judge whether my photos are accurate characterizations of Ropes or not. One thing I will tell you, everything I photographed there is in plain sight, easily visible, and not in any way concealed from anyone's eye. Ropes is very small. It is easy to see just about everything there. I avoided some residential areas because they were of little interest to us, and I wanted to respect privacy.

It was not our intention to make a photographic documentary.

If you have an interest in vacationing and sight-seeing and shopping in Texas, we would not discourage you from making Ropes your vacation destination.

I know this blog has many viewers in Russia, Ukraine, France, and Germany. Come to America! Visit Texas, and especially visit Ropes. Shop in Ropes. You will be glad you did.

Well, we have only scratched the surface. There is a lot more to come!

Wilderness And Rough Ground In South Lubbock

Sometimes it all depends on your point of view.

This stuff is a challenge for even the most determined off-roader!
 It gets flat!

 Then it gets rough again!

Next time around we put our camera eagle eyes upon ROPESVILLE again, and we see things we did not see before...

Reese AFB

The old helicopter pad is an RC flying field.

One RC aircraft flew while we were there, and it flew in silence, with electric propulsion. Electric propulsion and 2.4 gigahertz radio equipment has made flying RC much less of a hassle. All of my own airplanes are powered by electric motors using lithium polymer batteries. And all of my radio equipment is 2.4 spread spectrum. And all of my planes are registered with the FAA to conform to the new rules.

Reese AFB, which was a pilot training center, is now the Reese Technology Center. Lubbock survived the base closing. Not much has changed at Reese. Anyone stationed out there would still recognize the place.

The golf course is still there.

Infrastructure is still there, to some extent.
