It Is Time For Something A Little Different

My wife and I drove SOUTH and on the way I took photos. I took photos in Big Spring, Eden, and New Braunfels.

The photos above were taken in Big Spring, at a location where I have been buying gas for years, whenever I make this trip. This time I did not need gas. We stopped here to get some snacks and stretch a bit. Big Spring is looking more prosperous than it has in years, thanks to the BIG OIL BOOM. But truck traffic is heavy! Many trucks are carrying fracking fluids. Yes, in Texas, there is a whole lot of fracking going on.

More Pictures

Now we are really getting into that day of high wind and blowing dirt, when my wife and I got sandblasted taking these pictures. Lately, though, it has been OK. It has not been so windy, it is getting hot, but the sad thing is: no rain no rain no rain. The drought goes on.

These ruins, photographed before, yielded a few more rocks for the garden...

Second Dust Set

The sky was orange when I took these pics, but my processing of the pictures removed any sky color. The native images were all of severely low contrast.

Interestingly, I got an update to Internet Explorer 8, presumably a fix for the recent bug, and I am still running XP. I don't think that Microsoft has entirely abandoned XP users, at least, not when the issue is critical.
