Record Snowfall!

A little over seven inches at the airport and that was a record for the date yesterday. But it wasn't that cold and  this morning it is clear, and not as cold as forecast. Yesterday evening the stuff was melting already. Probably icy streets this morning and dangerous driving, but by noon, probably OK. I hope that's the last snow we see this winter. The end. But we needed the precipitation. It'll be sloppy for a while but I can deal with that. There should be plenty of sunshine today!

Sunflowers seem appropriate. Do I ever hate winter.

SNOW

I guess I got 4 to 6 inches but it's stopped and already starting to melt. Icy mornings for a few days, unfortunately.

But we needed the precipitation and it was relatively painless, in that it wasn't all that cold. No ice storm, but just fluffy, wet, snow. And it should be sunny tomorrow with a high in the forties. The sooner it all melts the better.

Maybe Some Snow

Starting sometime over night and extending into tomorrow afternoon, snowfall turning into what will probably be a light drizzle. This is another forecast I'd like to see WRONG. But I'll be ready for it, whatever it turns out to be. And I felt like doing something different today, reaching back into the archives and re-working old scenes. I really like the black and white stuff and the subject matter I used then. I don't think I'd feel good at all, doing that again, visiting such places again, because it would necessarily and unfortunately be something I would have to do alone, and that would be hard to take. No alternative.

My life now is sometimes as bleak as these scenes. I think I'll do more of this and save the sunflowers for later. Yes, more...

I call stuff like this a "life study". It IS life, isn't it?

Today Not Bad

Tomorrow won't be so bad but snow possible tomorrow night, probably late, and then snow changing to rain Tuesday. I guess this will at least help with the drought conditions but 1 to 3 inches of snow is not that much moisture. The hazard will be Wednesday morning with iced roadways. But it'll be well above freezing later that day and it warms again rapidly after this blip of winter. So I'll run the necessary errands tomorrow, stay inside all day Tuesday (I'll have to get out once in a while, but I'm not DRIVING anywhere), and Wednesday afternoon I can be out and about as needed. It's been worse. A LOT worse. Most of our snow, if we get any, arrives in February. I actually used to like cold weather. And I even enjoyed snow at one time. But now I'm old and all that has changed. At my age you'd rather be warm than cold.

I'm looking forward to summer and I really don't care how hot it gets.
