NOT A New Home In The Sky

Oh no! But it is New Home, Texas.

Yes, this is a new home, Texas style.

Yes, New Home is a town where Texans live, and they are very proud of who and what they are, all ready to fight the battle of the Alamo all over again, one supposes, or the Civil War, all over again. What you see here is what you get. I only saw, myself, a few grizzled old farts with big guts. But, no doubt, they were true-blooded Texans. Then again, they might have been mere drugstore cowboys from San Francisco just passing through. Who knows? I ask no questions. I only record what I see. I did not photograph any people. I never photograph people. I only photograph things that stand still. These are the things that stood still in New Home, that stood out for me, that seemed to tell me what I wanted to know about New Home.

We are not yet done with New Home. Not by a long shot.

New Home

Not anything less than New Home, Texas! Yeah, we drove there one day and I took a bunch of pics. If you want to get a sense of what sort of place New Home is, the pics are worth thousands of words. What you see is what you get.

Is any of this stuff for sale? We don't know. The building seemed to be abandoned, with all this stuff inside.

New Home is not a very large town.

But we are not finished with New Home...

Lubbock Obscurities

We investigated a part of town almost entirely hidden, just off the Tahoka Highway. There were some interesting sights.

It seems to be mostly industrial...

... but then you find a few residences.

Junk cars are very popular.

Everybody has at least one junk car.

People get very attached to the car grandpaw used to drive, or the car uncle Bufort was so proud of, back in the day. It must be nostalgia.
