More Of Landa Park

This was only the second time I visited New Braunfels after my wife passed away. It still feels very strange driving there without her company.

We walked through this park several times over the years, and around town together. A couple of times I bought her jewelry at antique places downtown. We had a rather pricey German meal at a restaurant by the river, sampled the local BBQ, watched the Children's Parade, checked out the farmer's market, walked through a large auto swap meet, enjoyed the Wurstfest. Good times.

There's a parochial school connected with this Catholic church, and I put in eight years there. Didn't hit the public school system until I went to high school. Nobody knew me. Some thought I was an English exchange student!
The nuns marched us across this bridge once a year, to Landa Park, where we had a kind of recreational day and picnic.

This is UNDER the bridge and I found evidence of flash flooding. It had rained a lot just prior to my visit.
This was the first time I've ever been under there.
The building behind the bridge was once the power plant! It has been converted into luxury condos. They kept the smoke stacks. It still looks like the old power plant. The cooling tower is gone, though. Very nice place to live if you can afford it.

Still In Landa Park

The weather was great, the park was busy with Wurstfest crowds, even though it would begin the next day.

Nice park!

I used the telephoto a lot.

Most of my photos were taken in this park. More next time.

New Braunfels 2018, Landa Park, Wurstfest

Yeah, I got to Landa Park just the day before Wurstfest opened up. They were getting organized. Bigger and better than ever. Many improvements! Already a lot of traffic.

My mom and I got into Landa Park the back way, avoiding at least some of the traffic. Lots of deer around the golf course, as usual.

They have paddle boats in the park again.

I'm going to spread these pics out over several days of updates. More later.

Still In The Same Spot

But giving everything a close look.

After being a "widower" for almost a year, I'm starting to find that various people have plans for me-- they think they know what I should be doing. I'm also being hit on. Maybe I look eligible?? I'm finding polite ways to say: "bugger off."
I will determine what works for me now and what does not.

Awesome doors! What dark thing lurks behind these immense door?

The Marsha Sharp Freeway. I liked it better when we still had the old 4th Street that the freeway replaced. I don't like growth and I don't like the changes associated with growth.
I was not really this close. I use a lot of telephoto.

Another view of the performing arts center under construction.
This was an interesting reflection effect.

And that completes this section on sights in downtown Lubbock. Next time I can focus on New Braunfels.
