Let's Finish That Alley

And then, next time, more sunflowers from our garden, and after that yet another commercial alley behind yet another old shopping "strip mall" I guess you would call it. The next alley will be one we visited even earlier in our relationship. At that time I think I was considering specializing in alleys. Well, alleys are interesting, but there's a lot more than that around here to photograph.

It's always nice to have a little door for the rats to run in and out.

A lot of this looked familiar.

It's always nice to have a place for the rain to come in.

It's always nice to have some wires around.

What I am showing here are the somewhat unsightly backsides of "mom & pop" style businesses.

And here is a small glimpse of the frontside of one of those businesses. That's a good place to finish this series.

Still In The Alley

Alleys are just flat out interesting places.

And this one is behind a rather old shopping "center". The area has seen better days.

I don't remember what kind of camera I used the first time we visited here. I got much better photos this time.

Colorful place.

And here is the mystery-- what's that all about?

This was here years ago, and it has not been removed-- this is the back entrance to a business in this little shopping "center". Someday I'll try, discretely, to determine which business and do some looking around. VERY discretely. I will finish this little photo series next time and go back to the sunflowers. They are not looking good at all right now. Wind and rain associated with a norther has knocked a lot of the taller ones down. I'll have some work to do Saturday!

An Alley In Lubbock, Revisited

I'm interrupting the sunflower series because the alley pics are ready and I like the way they turned out. This was not the only alley we documented but it was the first. I took more pics this time, with a better camera. Some things had changed and other things had not.

I think Lubbock is unique in having drive-through mattress sales. You can get them with cheese, too. And fries!

This alley is pretty awesome.

I've never checked the businesses on the other side. Maybe I should.

There are vestiges of when this part of town was part of a ranch.

Things have a nice patina.

 Weeds, but no petunias.

More of this next time. Some mysteries! We will be asking,"what does THAT mean??".
