After The Big Day

 It turned out to be a boring game. I caught about 75 seconds of it and I was bored. I guess TTU will rise in the rankings. I guess the homecoming fans were satisfied. I guess a lot of them left early, since TTU had such a big lead and BYU wasn't able to accomplish anything. Cold this morning but sunny and it didn't freeze. Probably a freeze tomorrow morning but by mid-week it will be quite warm again. It sure is dry. Still a paucity of migratory birds. They are late this year. Things are pretty stable in my life. I retired in 2002. I worked in a research lab for a year, beginning in 2004, I think, and I don't understand why I did that. I fulfilled my obligations there and quit. They needed someone with expertise in a certain area, and they got that. I got to write part of a grant proposal and I proofed the document before it was submitted to NIH. It was funded and I was asked to return to work on that new project but I declined. Enough. Some people feel lost after they retire and have too much time on their hands. Not the case with me. I was happy to have left the work force and happy to be master of my time and I threw myself into projects of my own, ramped up my personal exercise routines, and gave much time to hobbies. I have never had any regrets about retiring so early. It has all worked out quite well. 

Long ago I made a list of things I wanted, and in one form or another I've gotten everything on that list, and then some. Maybe I should make another list. But I'm not sure what I'd put on it. 

The Big Morning Of The Big Day

 It starts off crisp and sunny. Today TTU and BYU slug it out on the playing field inside of what used to be Jones Stadium. I don't know what they call it now because I don't know which corporate sponsor is being honored currently. And on both sides of the fray, fans pray for victory and ask of the Lord, Hoo doo You love? The Crackling Christians of TTU or the Maniacal Mormons of BYU? HOO! DOO! YOO! LUV??? TTU's relatively high rankings are at stake, post-season bowl game placements are at risk. Can it get anymore nail-biting than that? Is any question of any greater cosmic importance? And for TTU it is homecoming, which puts the gravy on the cake for sure. The ancient pageantry of Homecoming, and a clash of titans, will put the final dabs of paint on our dreams of immortal glory. And don't you dare forget the American Flags waving in the wind today.

There is just enough wind today to make them look pretty. 

Best of all, it will be good, clean, fun. No taint of alcohol will tarnish our lips or defile our bowels. No discouraging words will pollute the air we breathe. There will be no bad talk or loud talk to curdle the purity of the sacred rituals to be performed today. All will be well, and all manner of good thing shall be well. 

Cool Weekend Ahead

 Yes, cool, but a big one. How big we do not yet know. I live far from the Stadium and the Tech Campus, and I am glad of that. I think local law enforcement will be on the alert. They will have to be. If Tech wins the fans might go out of control. If Tech loses the fans might go out of control. In either case property damage, chaos and confusion. Vandalism and hooliganism. Because football. 

The weather will be perfect for this upcoming big game. Football weather! 

Big Weekend!

 Homecoming, TTU hosting BYU and the hope is that the home team can preserve its current good ranking. If they can get a win, that ranking ought to improve. I suppose I can support that. I'll avoid that part of town of course, due to traffic that will probably be insane. I have no need to be anywhere near the Tech campus or stadium, so avoidance should be easy. Maybe a record high today but at this time of year that only means a pleasant warmth. Sunday will turn cooler, maybe a harder freeze than any we've had so far. I have not yet seen many migratory birds. The playa lakes were in great shape, but now they are rather low again. 

I've noticed that a popular "look" on TicTac is something I would describe as "googly eyed idiot". 

Oh The Weather Is Fine

 It really is, with warm days now, plenty of sun, and perfectly cool in the evenings and in the morning. 

I wonder when the next rapture is supposed to take place. Let's face it, TikTok is shit for the birdbrains and there are sure a lot of birdbrains out there. Let them EAT it. They can CHOKE on it.
