FIne Mornings & Fine Evenings!

We are told that in heaven everything is fine. Here we have fine evenings and fine mornings and days that are warm rather than hot, and I have accomplished so much I can chill out this fine Labor Day. You know, I have not worked at a job, as such, in the sense of being on a payroll, in over twenty years, but I've been active and productive every day. No slug-a-bed am I, nor am I a couch potato, and I never have been such a one. I can't sit still that long. I have to be doing something. If I am not doing something with my body I am doing something with my brain, but frequently both at once.

I am giving some thought to the use of a dust mask when I work outdoors because the vegetation is so dense and the soil now is probably full of mold and bacteria that might be an issue for someone my age. I believe I've reached the point of needing to take my age into consideration, darn it.

STORMS!

Storms and heavy rain night before last! Very noisy! Cool mornings and mild days, fairly high humidity, and only gentle rain last night. The rain interfered with some of the things I'd planned to do but I got enough done. Very fine weather today. Corn and cotton looking very good. Sunflower seeds by the 40 pound bag are getting rather expensive. Could it be the stupid tariffs? Trump's approval rating hovers around 35%. Those who represent that 35% approval should DIE! NOW! Hah. Only jesting. A famous joke. We've had enough of death. Of violent death, we have had far too much, and over the course of human history, it makes me wish that everyone on the planet had been neutered/spayed 10,000 years ago. Hee hee. Of course I am not serious.

Hot Today, Better Tomorrow?

Hot today but sometime today a norther with some strength is due, and the weekend and most of next week should be much more temperate and perhaps even rainy. I continue to do what I need to in the mornings, before the heat hits.

A Hint Of Fall

A norther is on the way, and it appears that August will close out in the best way, with a fine change from the heat of late summer. I'm at the stage of having to do a lot of pruning and cutting, simply to be able to move about in the garden. I'm already thinking about what I'd like to do this winter. Whatever it is, it will in no way be conventional. I hope for a mild winter. With global warming a reality and progressing inexorably, you'd think that a mild winter would not be an unreasonable thing to hope for.

Already I notice that days grow shorter.

Nice Morning!

Pleasantly cool! Work done! Discoveries made! Quality of life improves with little effort and minimal expense! How gratifying that is! Brief power outage last evening with the usual cause, a drunk driver or drugged driver loses control and smacks a power pole. That happens a LOT. I kind of regret now that Lubbock went "wet". The City of Mums has become The City of Drunks. Too many bars, nightclubs, package stores and so on. Gee, with a church on every corner and most of them Baptist and Methodist, how can this be? My personal feeling about drunks has no element of sympathy. I would have to say that I hate drunks, and druggies as well.

That's one reason I no longer drive after dark, at least not on a weekend, and not around tech, and not anywhere near the Depot District. Avoid that area like the plague. In the dark! In the night! At times when the drunks hold sway! Truly, the only good drunk is either dead or doing the steps. AA is a good thing indeed. In fact, Alcoholics Anonymous is the only religion this country really needs. And there are actually good drugs, like anti-depressants and anti-psychotics and drugs to control mania and personality disorders. We need a lot more people receiving treatment for mental/emotional illness.
