Today and tomorrow, quite hot but no records set. Saturday a big change is still in the forecast, with a week of below average temps and rain chances, actually storm chances, increasing. It could be a very wet week next week. So I'd better do whatever I need to do outside, what little remains, before that change. Yesterday I did the last major job so what's left is detail work but I need dry conditions. Death toll in the recent floods down south will probably exceed 300, and the FEMA response so far has been inadequate, to say the least and that is no surprise given that a MAGA moron is running that agency, and it's been decimated in other ways. That's what happens when shit floats to the top. In MAGA world, it's ALL shit, top to bottom.

ANOTHER Thunder Shower!
It didn't look much like rain last evening but again thunder and rain. And the morning is clear, breezy, and cool. Feels good. We remain soaked. This is unusual. Humidity remains rather high. The air is fresh. Will this be the wettest July ever??
Extended forecast has us with below normal temps next week, and good rain chances almost every day.

More Rain Overnight
The thunder woke me up briefly. It seems to have been a fairly substantial amount of rain but humidity is lower than it was yesterday. I worked harder than I did yesterday morning and didn't even work up a sweat. It felt cool. Nice! I got lots done.
Death toll in the Hill Country is now over 100.

Very Cloudy Very Humid
First a lot of sunshine and zero wind and high humidity but that quickly changed to heavy clouds, cool breezes from the north and rumbles of thunder. Forecasts gave us a very slight chance of rain today but the forecasts have been inaccurate. I have no idea what to expect. A deluge would be no surprise.
Weeds are running wild all over town, and when people go to mow their lawns the mowers bog down in the thick vegetation. I attacked the worst of my vegetation with a string trimmer, anticipating a bit of a struggle when the lawn can finally be mowed. I need to do more of that. Sweat like a hog.

Terrible Flood!
The timing of that deluge could not have been worse. July 4th weekend. I used to drive through Kerrville once or twice a year. Always on my way to someplace else, just passing through. It always had some eye appeal, and seemed like a good place to live. I never saw much of it, though. I whizzed on by at 75 mph, coping with heavy truck traffic. I did not celebrate last night. I stopped doing that many years ago. Even when I would go to the local displays of fire works and checked out the parade, I never felt that I was celebrating anything. Like, I should celebrate the products of greed and genocide and some rather pointless wars? Imperialism? A rotten and corrupt political system? Ignorance enshrined as a great virtue? Rapacious and destructive corporatism? Slavery? An ugly and debased form of Christianity, in which money is the only true god? That's nothing to celebrate.
The human brain is so constituted that any nation people might form will turn out to be a murderous, corpse devouring monstrosity.
