I'm saddened by the flooding in the hill country. I know that area very well. It's very bad news. Here, our rain is over. Blue skies. Drying out. We need to dry out a bit. Too soggy for too long, but the rain we had was much needed, especially as we begin to move into the worst of summer's heat, and who knows when we'll have any significant rainfall again?
This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

Even More Rain!
More rain today than yesterday. Flooded areas here and there. Saturated ground. Only a few breaks in the cloud cover and brief intervals of sunshine before more clouds roll in and more rain is falling. The playa lakes are very, very, full. Temps are well below average as well. Sometime tomorrow the nearly constant rainfall should end but storms remain possible.
This is starting to be a lot like 2010. I have not yet heard of cancelled events, and that surprises me. Street dance downtown tonight? Not likely. Will it move to the Fair Park Coliseum, as it did in 2010? Or do they even do that anymore? What about the big parade? McKenzie Park is probably on the verge of being somewhat flooded out, with one road closed into the park and high water everywhere else. It'll be very, very, soggy tomorrow night, with the possibility of yet more rain. I'm happy to be not attending any celebrations. I have no plans to do anything out of the ordinary.

It Won't Stop Raining
Steady light rain, hour after hour. Obviously it has to be very sodden outside. The rain paused long enough yesterday for me to do some work outside and I'm happy to have taken advantage of that opportunity.
This is getting kind of old, frankly. It would be good to get some sunshine. Eventually. Maybe one or two more days of this.

Rain, Cool, Cloudy
We will remain on the cool side today with constant rain, light alternating with heavy. Very wet. Soaking wet, in fact. This is a strange way to enter July.
Could there be local flooding later? The ground is saturated.

Rain Last Evening!
Good experience. Great cloud formations, streaks of lightening, a strike very close I estimate at a ted less than a quarter mile, which is more than close enough. Cool winds, and finally rain. I think we had several showers last night after I went to bed. 50% chance today, tomorrow, and next day. That's very good. Nothing severe in the forecast but maybe dangerous lightening and local flooding. This is a good way to finish June and enter July.
I've done a lot of work outside lately. I've needed to use mosquito repellant. West Nile has been detected again.
