But it looks like the heat wave breaks next week, after delivering a couple of record highs. Amazing extremes now, in my area, ranging from high temps well above 100 F, to lows approaching 0 F.
This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

Bad Storm
The weather signs were not good yesterday and I felt that a bad storm in our area was likely. Sure enough, a bad storm. I seem to have been on the fringe, with the worst action north of me. I have not checked the local weather yet. I got a substantial rain and sparsely spaced hail, some up to golf ball size. Not much of that, not a barrage, and the winds were light. Vegetation shows no sign of damage. Now we are in for bad heat, temps over 100 F for a week! But I won't have to water for a week, and maybe the forecast will be wrong, as so many have been wrong recently. An unstable climate makes forecasting difficult. Humanity is committing suicide anyway, so a species in the process of self destruction has no need of an accurate weather forecast. And when the last human expires, there ought to be something higher and better out there, to say "Good riddance". That's what I would say, but I don't pretend to be higher or better. Just another poor monkey in the zoo am I. Or another inmate in the global insane asylum.
We live and die in a stupid, shoddy, claptrap world, and that's a natural fact.

Cloudy Cool Windy
So this morning it's cloudy and cool and windy. Feels good before the heat hits later.
It's frustrating that Abbott's ERCOT never, ever, seems to be able to cope effectively with our weather extremes.

Three Dead In Matador?
Lots of damage northeast of us, and even fatalities, caused by a tornado that tracked on the ground for many miles. Matador is a very small community. Not only the tornado wreaking havoc but also baseball sized hail. The city seems to have been devastated. It was very hot yesterday, for us, but I'd rather have the heat than such severe storms. It won't be unbearable today but temperatures soar for the next several days after this break. Extreme weather is the norm.
Despite the heat yesterday I was able to do work outside, things that needed to be done.

ERCOT
Once again, Abbott's ERCOT fails to keep up with power demand, with many parts of the state having power outages as temperatures soar. Why is nothing ever done? Why do Texans keep voting for Abbott? It's a mystery to me. I suspect, but can't prove, that Texas utilities are plagued by corruption. It seems that no real improvements are ever made. Where does the money go? I doubt that it goes into the power infrastructure, because it keeps having the same old problems, summer and winter. Can't meet demand. Outages.
I'm not on the same page with the majority of my fellow Texans, and I take that as a good sign. There's nothing wrong with ME.
