Fire Hazards! Burn Bans!

Those Texican evangelicals better defer their book burning parties! Many Texas counties are at wildfire risk! Because it won't rain! Maybe all those god-fearing Texicans haven't persecuted enough gays, or fucked over enough women, or maybe they haven't banned and burned enough text books, to please the fearsome THING they worship. Wait! The god-emperor has not been reinstated! Maybe that's the problem! Where IS that Uri Geller?? Where is the magic? If it finally does start raining, better have the lifeboats ready. But on a more serious note, the drought is really bad, and climate change due to human activity is all too real. But those damned oil men can't be stopped. Money is the only true god, to paraphrase Robert Bloch.

In my photos I offer only wholesome things, so don't blame me for anything. I live on the very fringes of Lubbock, a mere stone's throw from the boonies, and rarely venture into the burgeoning and growing and increasingly congested areas far to the west of me, so I have only the most simple and humble and wholesome things around me, and I like that very much. I have always liked the east side of town, and I sincerely hope that the developers stay away. They should drop dead. They should choke to death on the money they make.

Wind And Dry Conditions

We are getting conditions now that are conducive to wild fires, hence many weather alerts. No rain in sight. I drove into areas of Lubbock I have not visited in years, that were mostly open spaces, then, and now the developers are hard at work, creating more neighborhoods. Always, I ask, where will the water come from? All this development and building only hastens the inevitable water crisis and crash, as the wells go dry and the drought eats up the surface reservoirs. Lubbock needs a doomsday clock and a halt on development, but that won't happen, because of GREED. The people profiting now will be fine, as they can take the money and run.

But so what? I give not a rat's ass, not even a microtome thin cross-section of a rat's ass, for the fate and future of Lubbock.

Soggy Morning

Not rain, just thick fog. As good as it gets lately. Forget rain. Maybe someday rain will arrive with the usual cargo of baseball sized hail. No boon without a bane.

And yet temperatures are mild and the wind is low. Never forget: it could be worse! The current UAP flap reminds me of an old R. Crumb comic feature-- "Meatball". Maybe that could be googled.

Winter Redux

It's baaaack! But maybe only for a day or two and then much better weather. Unless we have a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic BLAST! This winter has been chock full of generational and once in a thousand years storms.

For us, in this neck of the woods, it has been a relatively mild winter. The problem is, of course, no rain. So very, very, very, dry. Is desertification the new sensation?

Preachers? Pastors?

Parasites. Flesh eating bacteria. These are a few of my least favorite things.

Nice weather! So good to get some sun and work in the outdoors! And there is plenty of work to do!
