Cranky!

But I'm old. My feet are cold. I wear the bottoms of my trousers rolled. And so on. The grand things we (in SDS) believed in, back in the day,  are turning out to have been impossible dreams, scuttled by that dismal thing: human nature.

The human name? The human game? Things to be pissed on, and despised.

Milder And More Sunflowers

After a few more days of rather high temperatures it looks as though we will enter August with milder weather and some slight rain chances. July is usually our hottest month. I'm happy to be past that. I find it interesting to be living in the early stages of a major extinction event, an extinction event caused by the activity of an "intelligent" species. Not intelligent enough, unfortunately. Smart enough to be dangerous, but not smart enough for long-term survival. If ever a species deserved extinction, it is Homo Sapiens. Colonies on Mars? I think not. Elon Musk is on a fool's errand, and it might even be a scam. Or maybe just a billionaire's self-aggrandizing fantasy. Pouring vast amounts of money down a toilet for the fun of it? "Wheee! See what I can do? Look on and despair!" It's time for more of those sunflowers.

Species come and species go, and sometimes they can't go fast enough!

Some Heat Relief

Still quite hot but not AS hot, and comfortable mornings, and even a slight rain chance each day, so it is better, and at least a little more normal.

I have found myself lately feeling somewhat disconnected and remote from life. I like that feeling very much. That's my objective. Nothing could be finer, than NOT to be in Carolina, or in any other easily defined location in time and space.

Sunflowers Again

These are new, and a bit of relief from the extreme heat here. It is only 78 F this morning and breezy. Maybe it won't go over 100 F. In this area, August usually sees moderating temps. I think most of the time, if memory serves, our hottest weather is in July. At one time it was a fairly routine event to get a norther in mid-August that would bring significant relief for a few days. But that has not happened in the past few years. Climate trends are not favorable. Humans are such stupid animals, they shit in their own nest. And then deny it.

Oh well. The ride might be strange. The ride might be sad. The ride might be a fantastic adventure! The ride might be full of thrills and laughs. Or it might be a horror show. Whatever it is, it ends. Of that, one can be certain.

108 F?

That was the high forecast for yesterday but I'm not sure we got there, since there was a lot of overcast yesterday. And now the forecast has our temperatures "moderating" with rain chances increasing as this blistering July ends. Another Good Riddance. Global Warming is real and I think we are in the phase of Global Warning. Ha. Too late. Maybe God will stuff the bullet holes with candy, so to speak. Is there a special place for failed species? For failed "intelligent" species? The dinosaurs were more loveable than humanity. Rattlesnakes are easier to love than humanity.

There is nothing more tragic, more depressing, than a maternity ward.
