So, More Sunflowers

I did get some real Lubbock pics last weekend, but they won't go up very soon.

I am no longer taking photos of the sunflowers because I think I've done as much as I can with that subject matter. When these are done it really will be time to move on.

They are starting to be somewhat past their prime anyway. The bloody heat hasn't helped.

In fact, these pics are several weeks old.

This neighborhood cat likes to visit, so I leave out food and water. It seems to enjoy the garden. Not very friendly. I have a feeling it's an abandoned pet. People who abandon pets should be beaten with sticks.

More And More Sunflowers

Someday, when this relentless, stifling, heat ends, I will probably do an old time photo expedition and got some other stuff for this pitiful blog. Until then, those sunflowers go marching on.

I finally got a semi-decent pic of one of the many finches that hang out here.

Record high morning LOW temps-- that's what really bothers me.  That's a new one.

So, the bleep goes on. More of the same next time.

Sunflowers Garden

More of the "same".  But not really "the same".

One of the advantages, the few advantages of living in Lubbock has been the altitude. At a little over 3000 feet above sea level and with generally dry air, we usually start the day with temps in the 60's.  But not lately. Lots of heat this August and the days are starting near eighty. I've lived here a long time and I've never experienced that before. Not a good sign, and a sign of things to come.

The sunflowers are even getting a bit wilted. I have to water a LOT.

That's it for now. Plenty more left.

More Of Those Sunflowers From The Back Garden

The front garden is all roses and right now it is too hot and dry for them to do well.

You'd think it would be easy to take pictures of these things, but it is always windy here and they don't hold still.

Nothing else photographed yet, but I've got lots of this stuff to go.

That's enough for now.
