This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

East 4Th Street Vistas Continue
I'll finish the scenic beauty of Lubbock's East 4Th Street today, as the city becomes immobilized by a fairly heavy snowfall. Less than six inches of snow will pretty much put Lubbock in a state of suspended animation. It doesn't happen very often and we are just not equipped to deal with such quantities of snow. It never sticks around very long anyway. So on the days when the snow is heavy (for us) and the temps are in in the teens, why not just hunker down? WE are hunkered down, that's for sure.
Today we just have more abandoned homes and failed businesses, of which there are many in this part of town.
And that is the end of my photo series for a while, as we wait for better weather. I guess I could go back and dig through my archives...

Heading Back To Lubbock On East 4Th Street
We stopped to take in the scenic vistas! So many scenic vistas!
This abandoned house had a very good solid wooden door and an antique dresser inside. Naturally, we left those things alone. But we were surprised no one had tried to steal that stuff.
This final pic tells you a lot about the underpinnings of the local economy.

Now Is The Time To Finish Acuff
If we ever go back to Acuff I guess we'll be heading for that Steak House, but I kind of hope not, because we are just not too keen on that Steak House.
Does Acuff have a Health Department, to check on sanitary conditions, or the lack of them? Does anything like that get done in small, small, really small, towns? I just don't know.
That's it for Acuff. On the way back to Lubbock I found a few things to photograph, typical of what you see on that side of town. I'll get to those tomorrow.

More From Acuff, Texas
More views of that free (?) house:
I always wonder about the history of a place like this.
I mentioned the Acuff Steakhouse yesterday. We've eaten there. It is not a fancy place. It is a sort of home-made looking place with a mixed bag of thrift furniture, serving food buffet style. Selection is limited and it is sometimes noisy and crowded. It is folksy, if you like that. And there is nothing wrong with the food. Very basic. Some people swear by the Acuff Steakhouse. It's a long way to drive for the sake of eating nothing special in a rather primitive and uncomfortable environment, in our OPINION. But give it a try.

I had to crop one of the pictures below, because of a telephone number spray-painted on the house. I don't know, but it might be a working number and I don't want some poor soul to be inundated with calls from Ukraine, and France, and Malaysia...
