Cool Mornings

I expected a blazing hot August but so far it has been quite mild. But that doesn't rule out a blazing hot September, since the weather machine is so thoroughly screwed up by human activity. And never forget that there is nothing at all mysterious about life, because it's carbon chemistry, all the way down and all the way up. Think of a planet like the earth as a kind of natural chemical laboratory-- given a common mix of elements on a planetary surface, and the right temperature regime, probably not uncommon either, you get carbon chemistry gone wild, and the inevitable result is going to be life, and evolution will take charge. That's what happened here, and that's what has happened elsewhere on other planets in other systems, and that is what is happening right now on other planets in other systems, and that is what will be happening on other planets in other systems long after life on earth is dead because conditions on earth have finally and inevitably become hostile to that sort of complex carbon chemistry. Consciousness, subjective experience, is still a mystery, so if you like mysteries and want something mysterious, consider "selfness". There seems to be no real need for that, and so far no one can explain it in any satisfactory way.

Yes, ask yourself why you are not a mindless robot, because a mindless robot could do what you do and no one would know the difference.

Strange Things Are Happening

UFO/UAP related events are being described as on an "exponential" increase. Von Neuman probes are finally being discussed. But what it all means is not clear at all. Insufficient data. I managed, despite the press of other activities, to do more clearing yesterday. And the morning is clear and cool at 64 F. The crazy people are still out there, but I don't get involved. I hope that I will manage somehow, in the future, to be even more withdrawn and isolated than I already am. Until that day arrives...

Go Ukraine. Let an assassin reach Putin, soon.

August Ending

Our August ends pleasantly, with below normal highs, cool mornings and rain chances every day. I could ask for nothing better. It's a nice transition.

I believe that most of these photos were taken in New Home. Draw your own conclusions about New Home, a tiny town.

More Rain Overnight

I think we are getting a good accumulation of rain and it looks like our heat wave is broken, for a week, at least. I have not seen such an August in many years, although sometimes something like this, a wet and cool turn, has taken place as early as July. I recall such an event back in 1981 or so. So this soggy stuff is kind of a nostalgia trip, and I like those.

Flooding Drizzle?

So far the predicted "heavy rain" has been a drizzle and a fizzle, and that's what I expected. Gloomy and cloudy it was yesterday, and more damp than wet, and not enough rainfall to be more than a slight nuisance. But it isn't hot. That's something. But maybe today it will really rain. Or not. Oh well.

I took these pics in Lubbock, in one of my favorite areas, last October, I think. It's taken me this long to get this "new" stuff up. I move slow in my elderly years.
