Sunflowers 52

Chilling down again, with a norther today. Several in a row on the agenda but not such extreme cold, and DRY. That's fine. Last week's snow was quite enough. I do not appear to have had Omicron, or if I have it's been asymptomatic. Fully vaccinated and boostered, of course, since I'm not an idiot, but vaccinated people seem to be catching the stuff. Troubling are the reports that deer are being infected. A future transmission of a further mutated form of Covid, from deer or other wildlife to humans, could spell all sorts of trouble. Nothing I can do about it. What will be will be.

Crazy people don't bother me as much as they used to. I feel sorry for them.

Sunflowers 51

Well, I appear so far to be "doing goodie in the hoodie", to quote that famous star Svengoolie. I hope I spelled that right. I watch his show every Saturday. I grew up with science fiction and scary movies, such as they were in the old days, with low budgets, primitive effects, and silly plots, and mostly in black and white. RODAN moved me deeply and I felt sorry for THE MYSTERIONS. I started reading Poe's tales at an early age. Great science fiction back in the day, before anyone actually got into orbit. I have a complete collection of Philip K. Dick's short stories and most of his novels. I would say that we are living in a distinctly dystopian Philip K. Dick world at this time. If I wasn't part of that world, if that world was merely fiction, it would be a fun read. Unfortunately it is all too real. And I must do the best I can. Living day to day and keeping my bit of turf intact-- what else is there to do? For me, it's a small world, a regular Smallville, and I like it like that.

Here's looking at you...

Sunflowers 50

Sunny and warming. Most of the snow has melted. I am really hoping for a MILD winter.

I'm trying to hold on to last summer.

Sunflowers 49

I guess the weather people got it right, since it did cloud up and turn colder and start snowing yesterday. Quite cold this morning and an inch or two of snow on the ground, but not a cloud to be seen. I hope it quickly gets above freezing.

It could have been worse, since this kind of weather could have started in November. This snow comes after a quarter inch of rain, so more precipitation is good. It should melt quickly.

Sunflowers 48

We got more rain than I expected yesterday and it really didn't get very cold. Today it's all blue sky. I suspect that the weather forecast will be inaccurate again. That's not at all unusual. It was a rather quiet New Year's Eve around here. Nothing wrong with that! 2022! Big deal.

Unfortunately, it will be windy today. When is it NOT windy around here?
