Spur: We Have Arrived

We are there now, and let's look at some of those "little houses" the city leaders would encourage people to buy and remodel...

The one above is occupied.

Are these what realtors call "doll houses"?

While you are remodeling these cute little fixer-uppers you might want to ask where you will work, what you'll do for recreation, what sort of social life you might enjoy in Spur-- before the wells run dry.

Spur: Have We Arrived Yet?

We sure haven't! Where we are, is still on the road, but getting closer all the time.

I was so impressed by the scenery I got a little snap-happy.

We were on this road for half-an-hour and only encountered two vehicles! I like that.

I wonder what it would be like to drive this road slowly, at night, in a convertible, with the top down? You would really be able to see the stars, for one thing. It would be a great opportunity to be abducted by saucerians. Remember when everybody and his Uncle Fritz got abducted? It happened to all the best people.

We are about to enter Spur...

Beyond Crosbyton

You can get to Spur from Lubbock by taking a right in Dickens, but there is also a turn off onto a two-lane blacktop road that undulates gently through farm country, and we got to Spur that way-- it's the scenic route.

This stretch of road does not have much traffic and I thought of how neat it would be to do it on a bicycle, maybe starting from Spur and returning, making a round trip. It's definitely the sort of thing a bike club should consider.

We took our time, and enjoyed the drive.
