Decidedly Pleasant Weather

Yes indeed, and tomorrow rain chances "tick up" and even today they are not bad at all. Tonight might be best. Nothing severe in the forecast either. A pleasant day should be obtainable with little effort. Is that not the best kind? Of day?

And of such days, one might ask: can one have too many? And I would answer, if asked: I think not.

A Little More Rain

It was cloudy most of yesterday and humid and the reward was a slight additional quantity of rain. We certainly need a lot more! But I will welcome whatever we can get.

One of the supermarkets near me has remodeled and I am in the process of getting used to the changes. Aisles are much wider now, and I see a greater variety of food and other items. This must be a sign that the store is successful. That's fine with me. But I hope the other one, even closer to me and somewhat more convenient, will not close. It might help if they spiffed up their offerings; upgraded. If they did that they would get a lot more of my business. So wonderful, to have so many things so near to me! Only one thing is lacking and I keep hoping to find such an establishment under construction. All of this means not much driving required of me. I think the last time I  purchased gas was two weeks ago. My tank at that time was half full and that's as low as I permit it. So I've done two weeks on half a tank of gas and I think I might need to fill the tank again in about a week. That's not bad.

I've added George Galloway to the link list down below. Here's a sample:

Fairly Decent

It looked like rain yesterday, with lots of clouds and high humidity but it didn't. Today might be quite windy, maybe dust but right now hazy clouds and light wind. Scattered storms and showers are possible later. This is actually fairly decent weather for this time of year. The recent rain really gave things a boost. We need a lot more.

It Rained!

It finally rained and it came with no hail. Amazing. It's been so long, The sound of thunder and the sound and smell of falling rain. Maybe a quarter inch in my area. I hope that signals a change.

I have only a few things to do today. I guess I'll spend a lot of time reading. Morning weights are done. Only a few days are left in the war. I BELEIVE Marco Rubio! He looks like Lucille Ball's husband, doesn't he? I wonder if he plays conga. He sure does inspire confidence! Only a few days left and then peace. Ah!

Sunflowers

Despite the lack of rain I've got sunflowers coming up again and it looks like I'll have a lot. They really don't need a lot of water. Lubbock used to have many fields of tall sunflowers but I have not seen that in many a year. To conserve water I no longer irrigate parts of my front yard. If it rains it turns green and if not it's mostly weeds that are drought hardy. Of course, I keep those weeds cut to comply with city regulations. Great thing about those weeds is that they will grow and stay green under very adverse conditions, such as drought. Meadow grass has also returned in the back yard and I'm just going to let it grow. It's nice to see it waving in the wind when it is tall and putting on those tasty seeds. So hard to harvest though. Everything is quite stable around here. I wonder sometimes about the long term prospects of this area but my own long term prospects are close to non-existent so why worry.

There's many a persona I can dredge up and it pleases me lately to be an old cracker, a crusty and somewhat quaint old feller living in my own private Hickyville. Yes, Hickyville, where the good folks do dwell, close to the soil and soaked in old traditions that the city dwellers find amusing if not downright stupid.
