Will Our Heatwave End?

Yes it will, but when? Maybe in a couple of days if you can believe the forecasts. I hope they are right. Maybe that monster hurricane in the gulf will push our high pressure dome elsewhere. Maybe it will send up waves of moisture and give us heavy rains. Extreme south Texas might be in for a beating. As usual, one wonders.

My own little wild kingdom prospers.

Nothing But The Weather

It continues to be quite hot but the new hurricane might send a surge of moisture our way. I hope so. I would like that very much. From time to time I check the blog stats to see what sort of traffic I get. Last month I had many visitors from Israel, or at least bots from there, and I see now that this traffic has ceased. I should have said what Lenny Bruce is said to have said, as his mental state deteriorated, "No, No, I am NOT the messiah". Look elsewhere. Look in the cabbage patches, and under lettuce leaves, for the messiah might be hiding there. But there is no messiah hiding HERE. Good luck. You'll need it.

Perhaps the messiah will say, "Take this job and shove it"?

Heat Continues

I'm managing things quite well, in the face of our heat wave. I am very happy with where I've been, but I'm also OK with where I am, and I can't think of another place I'd rather be. I use "place" loosely, as in location but also emotional state and state of mind. Once in a while I rage against the machine, but it passes.

I can look out the window in this room and see a thriving jungle, a sea of green! We seem to have a bit of a breeze today, and that will make it more comfortable to be outside, although I've already done everything necessary outdoors.

Hot Humid

Bad combination, now of heat and humidity, but even with the humidity and a brutal heat index, no chance of rain. At least we aren't being flooded. It looks like a pretty uncomfortable summer is upon us.

A long time ago I used to put in eight hours working outdoors in conditions worse than these. And I'm talking about hard work, too. I'm so happy to have that sort of thing safely in my past. Are these my "golden years"? I guess so.

Hot For Sure

Summer is truly upon us. Anything I need to do outside will be done either very early in the morning or late in the evening, and morning is preferable. And by the way, a sure sign of a trash call will be a little audible "boink" type noise. If you answer the phone, and hear that, hang up immediately and if possible block the number. Someday those scum might find some way around that telltale indicator, but for now it is a reliable guide-- a warning. Boink? Hang up and block.
