Maybe More Storms

Had a nice evening outdoors yesterday but when it was near dark and I went in I had no power. The outage lasted for about half-an-hour. This outage was not weather related. Thank goodness it wasn't hot! Today it is humid and warm and mostly cloudy and we've got at least a slight risk of severe storms over most of the area. More rain would be nice, as it turns hotter next week, for a few days, at least. By next weekend we might be looking at more storm potential, maybe more rain. The playa lakes are looking pretty healthy, Another inch or so of rain would be great.

Storms!

The signs were evident last evening, of impending storms, and after I was in bed lots of lightening and loud thunder, high winds and heavy rain commenced. We got soaked. I hoped for a wet summer and it sure looks like I might get that very thing. So much rain. Could be the same again tonight, and tomorrow night. Amazing. Plenty of sunshine during the day, and temps are still not extreme but they might be Monday and Tuesday. After that, another change and next weekend could be punctuated by more storms and more rain.

A green Lubbock is not often seen.

Strange Day Yesterday

Cool and very humid to start the day, then a miscommunication that I ultimately straightened out, and then more wild weather and a strange quality to the light. Storms possible again today. Plenty of rain though, and that is good. No hail for me, and that was good. Interesting, at least. And that was good.

Brushing up on the foundations of mathematics, doing puzzles, attending to one of the gardens, etc. have kept me busy enough, and the usual beyond that. Not exactly a daily "grind". More like a well-worn and comforting routine. And that is good.

Cloudy Humid Windy

More rain today would not surprise me at all. Hopefully, nothing severe this time around. One year ago we had so much small hail it covered the ground like snow. No no no-- we don't need that. But rain would be swell! Rain as much as possible before it turns hot and dry. Amazing how rapidly the "summer" is passing!

Wild Weather

Some areas around Lubbock really got hammered. We were lucky. Lots of rain, but none of the bad stuff. No power outages, for instance, no really damaging hail (I got none) and no damaging winds. Levelland seems to have been hit pretty hard. North of us, some damage and flooding, and so on. Dodged yet another bullet.

Rain chances and mild temps continue through the week. Nice.
