You'd think so, judging by today's weather. One more slap in the face. It'll be close to freezing tomorrow morning, and then a very rapid warm up and one can hope that this will be the last cold spell until-- October. Some rain is possible, remotely. I'll believe that when I see it. Maybe a light, cold, drizzle. Windy today, of course. Bleak. Hey, blowing dust would be the icing on this "cake".

Strong Cold Front?
It's going to be rather chilly tomorrow, and windy, of course. Maybe this will be the last of the cold fronts. Very tired of temps in the forties to start the day. It just won't warm up and stay warm, just as it just won't rain. Some areas did get rain recently but they were also smashed by hail and 90 mph winds. Par for the course. I know people are moving to Lubbock but I don't understand why. The Tax office is blood thirsty, and out to screw you to the wall, the climate sucks, and you'll be eating dirt six months out of the year. Lubbock, in my considered opinion, is a crappy place to live. If I wasn't already here, and established here, with too many memories and connections to move, and I hate moving anyway-- you wouldn't still see me in this thing. Happiness is Lubbock in your rearview mirror. They said that years ago and it is still true. It's tolerable if you aren't very social, and tough as nails. Otherwise...
When I got to Lubbock back in the late sixties, with a full scholarship of all things, one of the first things I learned was "Lubbock Sucks". We all said that, all the Tech students, unless they were native to this area, and the natives seemed brain-damaged to those of us who came from other, more congenial, and less backward places. Not much has changed.

Improving Weather?
Maybe. It isn't as cool this morning and the prospect is for sunshine as the clouds break up. As far as I know, Lubbock got not a drop of rain. That's probably good because for every drop of rain you can expect a pound of hail stones. Ha. It's still too much like October. It's WAY the hell too much like October.

Cool Morning
The weather people talk about "rain". I've seen nothing but light mist at brief intervals. It seems that we only have rain when conditions favor severe storms with damaging hail and damaging winds. Otherwise, forget it. Is it only distorted memory, or is life in Lubbock becoming crappier and crappier? I do remember times when it was possible to have fields of sunflowers, and even corn growing on the outskirts of town. That was about 40 years ago. In fact, I remember when every year we would have a virtual plague of crickets. I remember when you could drive out into the county at night and hear croaking frogs! Things have changed, and not in a good way. Now we have a plague of human beings, turning open land into residential areas where people water lawns and fill swimming pools, with water that can't be replenished, no matter how much it might rain.
