A January Like Spring

It's one of those this year, a January with above average temps and lots of wind and dry conditions conducive to fire danger and blowing dust. Screwed up as usual, King Friday. Ha.

But that does not mean that we will not be frozen later, subject to yet another Arctic Bum Blast. For that is life in this rather stupid realm, of the PU. Shoddy. Slipshod. Haphazard.

Warming Up Again

When we finally get some rain or other precipitation it'll probably be a disaster scenario, like California. I'm not looking forward to that. There was not a lot of cotton planted last year, around here. And this will probably be another bad year. I don't even want to know the state of our surface water reservoirs. It would be too depressing. By this time we must be approaching total dependence on wells. Good luck with that. Non-sustainable population growth is a real thing.

But I'm looking forward to another summer, rain or no rain. Not only am I negative for Covid, I'm negative about very nearly everything. I've lived long enough, and I've seen enough, to be in a position to pass that verdict of negation. Not only is the glass half-empty, the glass is dirty and the contents are toxic. So there.

A Norther

But not a very strong one, blew through yesterday. A mild week is in store for us, devoid of rain. Drought. Some towns and cities around here are in a bad way, with reservoirs so low, the water that's left isn't fit to drink. Or so I've heard, on KCBD. Some of those cities were made by oil money. Ironic, that oil might kill them. The only good "oil man" is an "oil man" whose time has come. In MY opinion.

The greenhouse effect is all too real. It's physics! Everything boils down to physics, and math is the language of physics. All else is mere hand waving and flummery.

I'm Negative

I used one of the test kits I got yesterday and tested negative. You know, the only long lasting and common side effect I would like to see, as a result of a Covid infection, is infertility. A drastic decline in the birth rate is just what the planet needs. Too much to hope for.

Ah, but one can dream!

XBB.1.5

A new and "highly transmissible" Covid variant is loose in the USA and the rest of the world, and the data is sketchy as to how severe it is. The real risk seems to be long term damage to those infected, affecting blood pressure and cognition and perhaps other organs. Of course, this variant is doing a much better job of evading the immune system. It is still better to be fully vaccinated than not, and to have had ALL of the available boosters, but infection is still possible, it seems. I've ordered test kits that should be delivered today and I'll use one right away. No telling what variant I was exposed to. Still feeling fine with no symptoms. Covid is doing what ALL viral diseases do: mutate.

That's life. That's life in the PU. Enjoy.
