It's Soggy

Yes, it is soggy and cool but the rain is much needed and it is not cold. I have no place I need to go today, having done all necessary thing yesterday and the day before. I expect to spend a lot of time reading today. It's a good day for a book and a cup or two or three of Earl Grey tea. My animals all have plenty of food, water, and shelter.

As usual, there is not much to say.

How Fine Can October Weather Be?

It can be this fine, as fine as it is today and as fine as it has been so far this month. If it got any finer you would have to be in Carolina. Maybe it will rain again today. That would not be a bad thing. It is looking and feeling as it should, in my opinion.

These sunflowers will be marching on for quite some time.

October Weather

We are having an ideal October. The weather is being exactly what it should be, to make a perfect October. And so a boon rather than a bane.

The sunflowers are well past their peak and now provide food for the house finches that hang around here. I have probably withdrawn from life as much as one can, and still be nominally "healthy"-- I don't think anyone I interact with would guess that I'm essentially a hermit. I'm sure that I don't come across as anything other than a normal human being with a good sense of humor and a pleasant and considerate manner. But I'm committed to a path of isolation and social distance, holding the madding crowd at bay.

A Damp Morning

Rain possible off and on today, and we already got a little in the early morning hours. Terrific temperatures. It is not so bad. I hope for a mild winter. I hope for no arctic blasts this winter. I clear the land a bit at a time. More progress this morning.

I will never understand why people text. There seems to be a stigma attached to the human voice, and even a stigma attached to email. People used to write letters. Letters were so civilized. Letters were so human, and so humane. I still correspond by letter. My mother sent wonderful letters to me, and I sent letters to her. I have hundreds of her letters that I have saved over the years. Someday I will put them in order and read through them, first to last. That will be a wonderful way to remember her. That will be a nice winter project, in fact.

Really Really Really Fine October Weather

And it's getting finer all the time. Even rain, maybe, is on the way, and today is turning cloudy.

Clouds will be consistent with my mood. I will be withdrawn. I will read a lot. I might do more clearing. The jungle is being tamed, slowly by slowly. Much will remain. But it will be easier for me to walk around, having more clear paths.
