Except for travel, this is a pretty inoffensive holiday. They should all be like this. I'm not traveling, so it's no big deal. I ought to get some hot dogs! I just might do that. I'm too old to care very much about a healthy diet. I do not fear processed foods. Let processed foods fear me-- ha ha.
This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

One Day At A Time
Every day I remind myself that I can only do so much. Keep my goals modest. And I'm always happy to have another day behind me. Sleep is essential. Know my limitations-- that's another important thing, and keeping life as simple and uncomplicated as possible. Keeping it simple is not easy.
And so many things are not my fault. If life is cruel and stupid, it's not my fault. I try to make it LESS cruel and stupid. I've always tried to do that.

Sunflower Time
It's amazing how many Russians fall out of windows when they piss off Putin. It's kind of funny. It's not like the people who are getting bumped off, those oligarchs, deserve to live anyway. Killing oligarchs is probably the only good thing Putin has ever done. I posted a link to a very good quiz show in the last post, and I highly recommend it. I might repost it again next time because it is spot on. But for now, as clear skies return, at least for a few days, I want to see sunflowers.

Record Rainfall
I had to deal with flooded streets and intersections yesterday, and the playa lakes are beyond full and verging on flooded. Nice. Looks like today we get a chance to dry out a little. Las Vegas has only twenty days of potable water left? That's interesting. I've never been to Las Vegas and I'm sure I'd dislike the place intensely. Noisy, lurid, chaotic and way too crowded. Gambling has no appeal and I'm sure I wouldn't want to associate with the kinds of people who might be attracted to a city like Las Vegas. So, if they run out of water to drink, I could not care less. I care not at all. TERRIFIC GAMESHOW!! TERRIFIC GAMESHOW!!

It Rained Again!
Wow! Such a watery and mild August I can't recall. It could rain again today, with a 60% chance. And the 10 day forecast has us going into September with rain chances each day and high temps below 90 F. Cool mornings as well. What a relief. But the general global warming will continue, and climate chaos is here to stay. Artemis, that obscene money pit, fizzled on the launch pad yesterday. It's a bridge to nowhere. It's the world's most expensive phallic symbol. I expect total and spectacular failure if it ever launches. Money down the toilet. Manned spaceflight, to the moon and Mars, is a stupid endeavor. It would be smarter to focus on social welfare, improving the quality of life for everyone. And I just saw, outside my window, something rather strange. There was a contrail and a fast moving aircraft, moving East to West, a bright dot leaving the contrail behind it (and I assumed that dot was the aircraft), and then that silvery dot vanished and the contrail terminated. I've never seen anything like that before.
I'm still happiest living in the past, as far as possible, and thinking about the past.
