Sunflowers 37

It looks like I won't be doing anything seasonal. Same old same old, anyway. Meanwhile, there are still plenty of sunflowers.

Sunflowers 36

A bit of a cold "snap" this morning but sunny and actually not all that cold by local seasonal standards. That's fine with me but rain would sure be nice. Not likely though. No rain for the high plains of Texas.

Sunflowers 35

I'm quite pleased to have a very good supply of masks! All those unvaccinated people, crowding together in big box stores and other social gatherings, with Delta still out there and Omicron spreading rapidly, give me the shivers. Experts predict a Covid tsunami and I trust experts. I trust intelligent people with education and training and experience. I do NOT trust social media "influencers", Facebook trolls, or pundits. So, I'll be really pleased to get this idiotic holiday season over with. People go crazy, and it's especially evident on the roads.

We had some nice humidity the last few days. This is what we've been reduced to in this area: humidity you can actually feel has become our substitute for rain. Gosh, we sure had some nice humidity the last few days! Did you get some humidity at your place?

Sunflowers 34

I made an effort to get stocked up on some things before the worst of the holiday rush hits. Still had to deal with fairly long lines but the traffic was flat out crazy. Lots of people driving like fools. This is really my least favorite holiday. I mean, it's the pits. Too crazy. I don't want to be a total scrooge about it, but it's hard to find any redeeming value in the shopping frenzy. Buy this and buy that. Don't people ever have enough stuff? Because of the crowds and Omicron, I've been careful about masking. I don't see many other people doing that around here. I hope they're ready for the inevitable consequences.

In fact, social distancing seems to be out the window as well. Bad idea. VERY bad idea.

Sunflowers 33

Well, considering the blasting some states  got yesterday, our mild temps and moderate winds were pretty good. I had some late evening quality time outdoors. Glass of wine. Book. The usual thing.  Did a Kant refresher. That was very important. The Critiques are something everyone should be familiar with, although the reading can be tough going, but some synopses are available, and those cut through the ponderous verbiage and give you the essential points. Food for thought in times like these.

Sometimes the best advice I can give myself is this: RELAX!
