Good News

We can look at more THINGS in Lubbock, things in places in Lubbock. Lubbock stuff.

And, I as usual, I try different ways to look at the same thing.

Lots of "things" like this to go. I see new places and things to photograph every week.

Some Bad News

The big vacant lot in New Braunfels that used to be full of a large quantity and variety of "junk" has been cleaned. It looks like a picked bone. At first I was pissed off, thinking that the city council there had decided to get "sanitary", but I really don't know why it was done. It wasn't an eyesore by any means. I think I documented it pretty thoroughly whenever I had the chance. My cousin in New Braunfels, who knows a thing or two about stuff like this and is able to appreciate the sort of place this used to be, sent me these pics:

Maybe somebody bought this land to put a building on it. Maybe someone bought up all the stuff that used to make this space interesting and worth exploring. Whatever happened, it is a great loss.

And this is all I've got of the Buddy Holly center for the performing arts, under construction here in Lubbock. Fortunately, I went exploring again, and have a bunch of new pics of bone dry Lubbock. Ages since we've had any measurable rainfall.  Some rain chances this week but pretty pathetic. Far from certainty. This is an arid land with few redeeming virtues. Here's one redeeming virtue: it isn't worse than it already is. Yet.

Buddy Holly Performing Arts Center

Kind of a progress report. Interesting project.

Meanwhile, it sure looks like the hardcore shit-for-brains racists and low information senile putz trumptard cultists will follow their cult leader even though he's been shitting on them from the very first. People in cults are like that-- the cult leader uses them and abuses them, screws them over this way and that way, lies to them, and offers them one thing and delivers something else; bait and switch tactics and cheap con jobs, and no matter what, the cult zombies stay loyal. In fact, the more a cult leader shits on their followers, the more loyal and devoted they become. Divorced from reality. Insane. A lot of trumptard zealots would like their leader to "burn it all down". Burn it all down? What would that mean for their families? Their jobs? For them? It's a suicide cult. Most cults do turn out to be suicide cults. This one is no exception.

If YOU are a trumptard, you really need to pull your head out of your ass before you suffocate.

Then again, you might like having your head up your ass. It might be the only place you feel safe. The only place you really understand.

Lubbock Texas, Downtown

Response to hurricane Laura will probably be as bungled and incompetent as everything else this administration has done, or attempted to do. No hurricane in downtown Lubbock. Some rain would be nice. But that's not likely.

That's all for this look at downtown Lubbock. Next, some views of the Buddy Holly performing arts center. Some progress has been made. You've got to be really optimistic to think that something like this has a future. This pandemic has sure messed with a lot of plans, hopes, and expectations. Nature has a way of smacking you in the face and showing you who's boss. It sure as hell isn't humanity. The human name and the human game don't mean shit to a microorganism, or a tectonic plate, or an asteroid, or a volcano, or a hurricane, or a tornado, or a tsunami, or...

Downtown Lubbock, Texas

At least, little spots here and there.

Another terrific alley.

Almost done with this. I've had another flood of hits from Russia and I don't quite get that. And Japan this time, for the very first time. Odd. Interesting.
