I tried to get some close-ups.
And I managed to do that.
And it wasn't that hard. These birds have seen me fill their feeders so often that they will get within a few feet of me. Only a sudden movement will spook them.
I've got a few more of these and them I'll go back to looking at various places around town.
Yeah, I went to extra trouble so I could get a few photos of the finches feasting on the sunflower seeds.
Before I planted so many sunflowers I never saw these birds.
Of course I also fill three feeders with black oil sunflower seeds and I'll keep doing that through the winter.
Of course, these aren't the only birds hanging around but they were the only ones in sight while I had the camera ready. I need another feeder to fill with cat food, since several birds seem to like that-- they pilfer food from the outdoor cats. And in fact, at precisely this moment, I look out the window and see a Cardinal at one of the feeders. So I feel like I'm maintaining a little habitat for birds that are not commonly seen in Lubbock.
Lubbock the way I like it.
That area above was scorched by a wilfire!
When you look at it like this, it all seems very real.
Old rusty pickup trucks. Seen better days.
Next time I'll have something that will be a surprise.
That Lubbock, that's a town. What kind of place it is we can debate. Most people agree that Lubbock exists.
So, if you were actually IN Lubbock, you would be able to see various things, depending on your location within Lubbock.
So, I travel in and around Lubbock and present samples of things you might see here, depending, of course, upon your location. I do this as a public service. I do this in the interest of adding to the sum of human knowledge. I increase in this way the information content of what we call the "world wide web".
Not posting too much at a time because I need more. I have some ideas for the weekend.
This would be considered "rural".
In these rural areas you have few restrictions. In fact, I am not aware of ANY restrictions. That's what makes these areas so interesting.
