I Always Find More Junk Cars!

Let's take a look at Lubbock! I found some more junk cars off University and about 120th Street. And then I found some new residential construction. They never stop building.

Is this good junk or what?

I always think of the people who owned and drove and maybe even enjoyed these cars. Where are they now? And what about the people who assembled them and sold them? Where are they? What exactly happened to them?

And now, more construction-- more DEVELOPMENT!

Looks like Lubbock is going to get yet more houses for yet more people...

Columbia/Willy McCool Memorial

Willy MCool attended a local high school, Estacado, I believe. And the Columbia, disintegrating, passed over Lubbock. So it makes sense to have a memorial here. I remember that day well.

In the background, above, is the veteran's memorial. The playa lake near these sites is almost dry. Will it rain? Or won't it?

And here we have some views of a water system construction project on 82nd street. This was Pump Station 10. It was a disaster from day one. It cracked and it crumbled and it flooded more than once. It was constructed on the site of an old landfill. That might have had something to do with the structural problems. It is being revised in some manner.
Above, another ruin. And below, fun with telephoto. I got this from the backyard.
I was not using the best camera, so it is not too distinct.

More Things You Can See In Lubbock

These are common and ordinary things-- the best things.

I like to think I'm the only person in town who pays attention to things like this.

Here's a landmark you can BUY! Expect it to be flooded on the rare occasions when we get really heavy rain. It's been here for years and years. It's been aging nicely.
 Fresh paint!
There used to be a little grocery store on this concrete slab. It's another unsung and unheralded landmark.

This is an abandoned sleeping bag. Homeless people sometimes use this area, weather permitting.

 Below, another vanishing playa lake.

A lot of rain would be nice. Praying for rain is an ongoing activity in this area.
Next time, we will look at the Columbia/Willy McCool memorial near the veteran's memorial on 82nd. Both of these are near another vanishing playa lake.

Another Playa Lake-- Going Dry

This one is not hidden. It is near the Tennis Center on 66th Street.

 Purple haze!!

Not much habitat left for migratory birds. Not much lake left.

It's not much more than a pond now.
Those were the days, eh?
And now for some oddball pics, utilizing a reflection within double-pane glass.

The next two pics are a mystery. I don't remember where I was pointing the camera!

These photos were enhanced, of course, to bring out hidden detail. I think I was just zooming in on a dark portion of the night sky. Odd. Probably something like noctilucent clouds.

Next time we will just look at some random views of Lubbock landmarks.
