Farewell To Petersburg, Texas

Some more of Lubbock next time, and then Ralls and Lorenzo. By scrolling through the history of posts here, other sets of photos can be accessed. By this time, there are quite a lot.

Of course, this is Super Bowl Sunday, and, quite frankly, neither one of us gives a damn.

The End Is Near!

I mean the end of this series of pics from Petersburg, Texas.

I saw the house below as we drove into Petersburg. I photographed it on the way out of town. I think these were the best of all the photos I took that day.

It's just an old, fallen, farmhouse, out in the boonies...

There was another one, across the road, way out in a cotton field.

The Last Word

The upload and download speeds I recorded are on spec for what I'm paying for. And I guess that ends my conversation with Suddenlink. I got off on this because it is sometimes very hard to upload the down-sized pics to this blog. But this morning's uploads were much quicker. So I just don't know.

More Petersburg And Some Info About Suddenlink Cable Internet In Lubbock

I've been exchanging emails with a Suddenlink rep about the quality of my service. I was asked to do a speed test so I went to an AT&T site where I could check connection speeds. I am getting 3.22 Mbps download and 0.56 Mbps for upload. I note that recently the FCC upgraded the minimum standards for "broadband", and the minimum speed standard is way above what I've got from Suddenlink cable. They dare not call it "broadband", because it is NOT. I'm not so sure it even qualifies as "high speed". At any rate, we are trying to work it out.

It is generally well known that internet service in the USA lags the rest of the world. That probably has a lot to do with lax regulation of greedy telcoms.

We are approaching the end of Petersburg. I've already got pics taken in Ralls and Lorenzo. We had a nice experience in Lorenzo and I'll tell you about that when I get around to posting those pics.

We Are Actually An Archive! Of sorts.

I've made a slight change to the blog to reflect the fact that it is no longer what it began as; I find that now it is all about regional photography and it is evolving into a kind of photo archive. That's OK with me. I had no clear idea about it when I began, years ago. But now I can see what sort of purpose it might serve. I probably can't control the occasional spoutings of opinion, but that is not really what it is all about.

So nice, to find a purpose here. Better late than never, eh?
