The News IS Depressing

But the whole of human history is depressing. The current conflicts are simply more of the same. Religion is obviously shit, at least the monotheistic variety. I wonder how various modern messianic Jews are dealing with this war? Supposedly, the stage was set, the work was done, and the messiah could arrive at any time. Move the goal posts? Rationalize? Or will the expectations become even more fevered? Any minute now! And then you have the rapture enthusiasts. I hope they are holding their breath. Count to a billion...

Keep the faith! Ha!

It's Another FINE Morning here.

Obviously not so fine elsewhere but I've been avoiding the world outside my own boundaries. Of interest? Of course. And if it's out in space it's of very great interest. If it has anything to do with the sciences, it's of great interest. But in most cases I see no need for any sort of emotional response.

Very interesting.

Super October Weather!

 It doesn't get much better.

I've made lots of progress with clearing. I have some kind of vine springing up now, and I have no idea what it is. Bindweed? I might let that run rampant.

Perfect October Weather!

Crisp and cool mornings and warm days, but not at all hot, continue, and there is no change from this pattern on the horizon. Very refreshing and very enjoyable!

Even so, I am well-prepared for the inevitable wintery blasts. Much less chance of pipes freezing, providing ERCOT does not collapse. In my neck of the woods, we had no brownouts or blackouts during that exceptionally hot summer. So I hope for the best and try to prepare for the worst.

Awesome October Weather!

Crisp mornings after lots of rain, dodged a hail storm last evening-- it was north of me, got a little more rain, and no more rain or severe weather threats all of next week. And the day's warmth (not hot at all) will be perfect. This is my favorite month and it looks to be a very good one. I need that. I got more work done yesterday afternoon but it was very humid. Lots of good sweat. Our last rainfall was so heavy, we won't need more for a while. Playa lakes VERY full and that's good to see. Unfortunately, the rain was bad news for the local cotton farmers. Too much, too late in the season. That's farming for you. Always a very risky enterprise. Unpaved county roads are probably a mess as well.
