Cool Morning

But yet another hot day. In 1991 it was at or near 100 F many times, right up to late October.

I'm still in my 1991 journal. Interesting. I seem to have had a rather positive outlook and things were going reasonably well.  Some long-term "projects" had succeeded and that was very satisfying. I wanted more of a social life, and I was making contacts and branching out. I felt pretty good, actually.

Chilly Morning

But it is warming rapidly. It could be like this into mid-September. And maybe beyond. Well, I remember hot weather into the middle of October back in 1976. I thought we'd never get any relief.

No migratory birds have appeared yet. The FAA's remote ID requirement will take effect soon. I've decided to retire my two non-exempt aircraft. They've had many good flights. I've got eight good planes that do not require registration or remote ID and I will be happy flying them. I don't do quadcopters or anything that I would consider a "drone". The FAA is not familiar with the types of things RC hobbyists fly. My stuff is all traditional fixed wing and mostly powered gliders. I do not think that the "drone" label applies to things like that. But I took the TRUST course, passed, got a UAS pilot certificate. All my documentation is protected in plastic sleeves and in my car, always ready to display to anyone who might be curious. Pre and post flight checklists. AMA safety rules, etc. AMA membership card. I've gone above and beyond to be compliant. But I still worry about the psycho "Karens" who might be hopped up on paranoid ideation about a drone menace. You can be a guy and still be a Karen, you know. Life would be much better without so many idiots running around.

Late Summer Heat!

Triple digits are in the forecast but mornings remain cool. It's 60 F this morning but it might get to the mid-nineties and triple digits soon. Our altitude, around 1000 meters above sea level, and our dry air make for thirty to 40 degree temperature swings, from morning low to daytime high, especially at this time of year. But change is in the air.

Tomorrow I'll start "time traveling" again. I look forward to that. And NOT into the future. The future is a catastrophe, a lost cause. I don't give a bloody goddamn for the future. No, my journals make it possible to relive bits of the past.

Cool Mornings Hot Days

Yes, or so the forecast has it-- cool mornings and hot days. We actually had a rather nice shower yesterday afternoon, along with a cooling breeze. That was welcome!

There is little to report, or comment upon. SOSO, and that's OK with me.

Terrific Morning!

But our rain chances evaporated into nothing. I knew that would happen. By next week the heat will return but mornings should stay on the cool side. That's normal for early September. At least I'll have mornings outside or in the garage. I like being in the garage, surrounded by projects past and present and future. There's something about the presence of tools...
