More Rain Overnight

I think we are getting a good accumulation of rain and it looks like our heat wave is broken, for a week, at least. I have not seen such an August in many years, although sometimes something like this, a wet and cool turn, has taken place as early as July. I recall such an event back in 1981 or so. So this soggy stuff is kind of a nostalgia trip, and I like those.

Flooding Drizzle?

So far the predicted "heavy rain" has been a drizzle and a fizzle, and that's what I expected. Gloomy and cloudy it was yesterday, and more damp than wet, and not enough rainfall to be more than a slight nuisance. But it isn't hot. That's something. But maybe today it will really rain. Or not. Oh well.

I took these pics in Lubbock, in one of my favorite areas, last October, I think. It's taken me this long to get this "new" stuff up. I move slow in my elderly years.

FLOODING Rain??

Or so they say. So so say say. I'm not convinced. I do know that it is very humid, and I've made preparations. Just in case. And I don't live in a flood zone.

I've begun the long, slow, process of clearing the land. I had a jungle experiment. But it was all too much. I'm too old for that. Next year I'll have to buy some hefty duty brush cutting stuff, so that it won't come back and run rampant again. If I lived farther out, among the Texicans and bikers and meth labs, I would not care. But I've got one foot in "civilization", that profound joke, and the other in the hinterlands. You need both feet in the boonies to do what I did and feel comfortable.

Deluge?

We just might get swamped with rain this weekend. What a switch that would be! I can dig it! It's been really busy lately but that might slow down soon. I hope so. I'm really happy the JWST is working as well as it is. Discoveries should be coming in thick and fast.

I do not think that ignorant, smelly, louse-infested, old men squatting in a desert thousands of years ago had anything of any value to contribute to the human race. The world was infested with superstition at that time-- lots of superstition and very little real knowledge of anything.

Drastic Weather Changes!

Fall arrives early, it seems. Lots of rain and cooler temperatures ahead. From one extreme to another we go.

Maybe I'll be able to do more yard work.
