There were no dust problems yesterday. Just a bit windy and the wind chills were uncomfortable. Today it is nice and calm. It will be sunny again. Of course, that means no rain. And that is not good. The vagaries of weather and disease are just functions of the PU, or Physical Universe. It takes elegant maths to describe it, but it is completely brainless and devoid of heart, soul, compassion, or any other quality we associate with sentience. The PU is as dead "inside" as a corpse. It's a kind of machine, blindly blundering on, casually extinguishing life as it goes, because, really, the PU isn't a good place for sentient beings. Amazing that there ARE any sentient beings. The PU generates them in a casual and senseless way, and snuffs them out in the same casual and senseless way. Life in the PU sucks, is what I'm trying to say...
This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

Not all that cold but strong winds last night. Definite wind chill this morning. The winds should moderate as the day goes on and temps will be back in the forties with plenty of sunshine, provided the dust is not too bad.
At least we aren't getting slammed like the northeast and southeast. Nevertheless, winter sucks.

Cloudy this morning but above freezing. Our coming cold "snap" will not be much, apparently. Lots of data to suggest that Omicron is taking over from Delta and that the infections are not very severe, especially if you are fully vaccinated and boosted. I haven't found any more news concerning any new variants and the "Deltacron" business seems to have been based on bad data. Good news there. I'm so bloody tired of this pandemic, as are we all. Another thing I'm tired of is the drought. Rainfall chances are no better than 5% at best in the next week. Too dry! As for the sunflowers, I recall that there were once huge fields of sunflowers around Lubbock. You just don't see that anymore.
Texas, so far, has been dodging the bullet in terms of winter storms. January continues to be rather mild.

Yet another nice day but winter is far from over. It will be somewhat cold this weekend. I'm enjoying this mild weather while it lasts.
If we can get through February without an arctic blast, we've got it made.

Terrific weather for this time of year! Not bad at all, except for the persistent drought. That's not good. My eye exam went well, and it felt good to get that done. Back on the once per year schedule.
