Finishing 66th Street

I didn't go as far east as I could have and maybe someday I will, starting at Southeast Drive. That's as far as you can go on 66th in that direction. Unfortunately, that part of the road is unpaved.

66th is paved from MLK west.

That's it. I'll have to get some more pics!

Photos From 66th Street

Yes, these were taken on 66th St. East of Avenue A. Kind of a desolate area.

People have been dumping stuff along here for many years. Occasionally it gets cleaned up.
This is illegal dumping, and that is common in Lubbock and Lubbock County.

More from this area to come, as we approach Avenue A.

Other Things In Lubbock

Like, a distant grain elevator, viewed in telephoto.
On a Sunday morning. Or how about another broken down abandoned house, of which we have many in Lubbock?
Most of them are in such bad shape, they need to be torn down. Or how about a mattress? These are scattered all over town.
I'm taking these photos on a section of 66th Street, where you can find lots of dumped junk.

More Lubbock next time!

Warehouse Backends

That's what we'll be looking at here.

This is were the utilities are.

You've got your gas meters back here, like these.
This is were you've got your storage tanks.
And the gas meters around here are pretty funky. Next time we'll look at more ag/industrial type things.

Another Area Of Lubbock

Moved a bit. Still in the vicinity of the earlier pics, though.
This is the overpass where I stopped to get the overview of the railroad yard. There have been a lot of wrecks at this location.

And this area is full of warehouses and light industry.

But you still find plenty of scenic wonders!

Nature, polluted by the human presence. Ah.

A fire consumed one of the warehouses on this corner. Debris still not cleared away. I photographed this last year, shortly after the blaze, in fact. More to come.
