Economy Mills, A Lubbock Ruin

Yes, this was one of the first ruins we visited, my wife and I, in the good old days-- actually only five or six years ago. I can't remember the camera I used then, but it was primitive compared to what I have now.

There's a feed lot for hogs right next to this place, but fortunately it has not been in use for a good ten or fifteen years. When it was a going concern the stink in this area was overwhelming. I guess I need to photograph that as well...

Weeds were a lot worse than they were when we visited this place the first time.

I got to this place right after leaving the Museum of Agriculture, but I had only a very light misty rain to cope with, so I got out of my car and walked around.

I'm not really sure what this stuff is, or why it was dumped in this spot.  There will be more of "Economy Mills" next time.

Finishing Museum of Agriculture

After that I move on to an early location my wife and I visited, but using the Nikon this time. Some things had changed and some other things had not.

I am not getting out to take any more photos until the heat becomes reasonable again. 105 F is not reasonable. But I've got a bunch of photos in the Canon I took last Saturday.

Outside again, but it was still raining so I pointed the camera out a car window.

This completes the Museum of Agriculture, under less than ideal conditions.

More From The Museum of Agriculture

I used the Nikon for all of these, and really, the lens I used was not well-suited to work in such close quarters. But it's my favorite lens, and I use it no matter what.

So there.

The main problem with this museum is that it is a hotbox. I visited on a cloudy day in the late morning, and it was quite hot. With temps running over 100 F in the afternoons this week, I would really not want to be in there. I will return, but it will be on a much more temperate day.

They have a great collection of toy tractors!

They have a nice assortment of tools and implements.

Well, next time I will finish this interesting museum!
