Continuing San Marcos, With Google Chrome...

So, we are in the city and have examined the Texas State University campus.

Now we are checking out some of the residences near the campus.

 Deer are everywhere!

Lots of big, old, houses, too.

It's good to see houses like this well-maintained, some obviously restored.

We are about to see some nature photography. That's sort of a new thing for me, but I had the Nikon D200 and a nice zoom lens with image stabilization, so I thought I would give it a try.

 I zoomed in on this.
This is a glass-bottom boat left over from Aquarina Springs. These boats are still in use.
I zoomed in on this scuba class. We were not this close.

So, nature! More of this next time...

In San Marcos, Texas

Pretty close right now, and about to BE there...

Here, we are actually entering. By the way, I am trying my "refreshed" Firefox.

See all the construction?

Now we are truly in San Marcos. It is very hilly!

And here is the verdict on "refreshed" Firefox: it is still a resource hog and still slow. So I'll switch to Google Chrome and finish this update with a far better browser.

On The Way To San Marcos

We are traveling from San Antonio to San Marcos. Nothing here but roadside attractions and traffic.

We planned to visit what used to be Aquarina Springs, a tourist trap. But now it is a wildlife preserve and study area affiliated with Texas State University. We also examined the Texas State campus.

We are getting closer.

I caught this motorcyclist with the zoom lens. When you consider that it was cloudy and I was in the back seat of a moving car and had no way to steady my Nikon, you can perhaps understand why I am so enthusiastic about the lens I found on eBay.

I did this update with Chrome but Firefox might have worked-- I learned that Mozilla Firefox needs to be "refreshed" from time to time. I did that recently and it is much faster and uses less CPU cycles. So maybe it is not so bad. Next update, I will try Firefox again, and compare the "refreshed" version to Chrome. Next time, we will enter San Marcos.
