More Lubbock Downtown And Some South Overton

So many pics still to go in this series!

We explored a lot of alleys.

But now we switch abruptly to a house in South Overton, an old neighborhood with old houses in widely varying states of repair. Some are in awful shape and others have undergone restoration and remodeling.

This one has major problems. It seems that someone has tried to repair it, but we think it was wasted time and money.

No doubt, someone thinks they'll rent this place and GET RICH QUICK! Think again.

It's a wooden house and all the wood is rotting!

This house has no foundation! It could collapse! It needs to be demolished! It is unfit for habitation!

But we've seen a lot of houses in Lubbock, in similar condition, that are occupied. Probably rentals. Lubbock has lots of slum lords.

Let's go back downtown!

Downtown is not where the action is...

Lubbock Returns To Normalcy

Except for big piles on parking lots, the snow has mostly melted. We continue with scenic vistas from downtown.

This was several weeks before the snow, but it was cold and gloomy that day.

Infrastructure and mechanical stuff is always interesting.

Wrecks and ruins are everywhere.

Things like this always look best in the dead of winter, somehow.

Lots of snow still on the ground...

... and not much has melted. Streets have gotten some attention and it is not too risky to drive if you control speed. Lots of accidents because some people are in too much of a hurry. We've gotten out, after I shoveled snow off the driveway. Meanwhile, more of the things you can see in downtown Lubbock:
