This blog is an ARTISTIC regional photo journal. I focus on mundane scenes. ANY AND ALL STATEMENTS I MAKE HERE ARE MY OPINONS ONLY! I OFFER NOTHING WHATSOEVER AS A STATEMENT OF FACT! The photographs are offered as ARTISTIC EXPRESSION ONLY! They are not representative of anything other than themselves. Most of the places mentioned here have surely changed substantially since they were visited. Check my list of recommended sites at the bottom of this blog!

Revisiting Tahoka
Just as though the last visit was not bad enough. This time we felt sort of creeped-out as well as depressed. I think it is safe to say that neither of us like Tahoka and although we cannot sometimes avoid driving through the town, we have no intention of ever getting off the interstate, Highway 87, and driving INTO Tahoka. No. No. Never again. The odors of rot and decay hanging over the town's pitiful "animal shelter" still linger in our memories. We want to forget about Tahoka. In our opinion, Tahoka is a place best avoided, if at all possible. But we invite all comers to take a look at Tahoka and form your own opinions. Some people might regard Tahoka as Heaven Upon Earth! We don't.
But first, here are some of the sights to be seen in or near Lubbock, as you journey south, on Highway 87:
There are some great old cars out there!

Pics From The South Plains Fair
Yes, we visited the fair, and here are the pics:
There's always a Kubota display...
There's always media...
And there's always lots of rides...
Rides and games and prizes and food-- have I missed anything? And it is all quite expensive. We sampled some of the food. We got in free. No way would we pay.

Trivial Pursuits
Wouldn't life be grim without trivial pursuits, toys, amusements, and the occasional beer? Football isn't my thing but I obviously enjoy rock and roll music, guitars, photography, RC planes and many other trivial things. Go figure.
My wife spotted this old Pontiac on 50th Street.
The truck was close by.

Mustang Bridge On Squire VM Jaguar
Let's go ahead and detail the mods I made to a Squire Vintage Modified Jaguar:
The Stewart McDonald Mustang bridge is designed for a vintage radius, so I added shims to the outboard saddles to make it conform to the Jaguar neck radius. This worked very well.
I made sure I had the intonation right before adding a foam rubber "muff" behind the bridge to dampen unwanted overtones. This improved sustain and gave me clean tones. It does not interfere with vibrato action.
None of the strings fall off the neck and it plays easily right up the fretboard.
