South Overton Sights

From the scene of that fire we went to the South Overton neighborhood and found some interesting sights. My wife took most of the following pictures...

This was once an Episcopal Church. Then it became part of the YMCA. I used to play chess there, when the chess club met there on Saturday morning. It appears to be abandoned now. It has been in this state for a very long time.

More House Fire Scenes

This was once a solid, lower middle class working person's neighborhood but it has gone downhill over the years, and there is some evidence of gang activity. I'm not sure I'd want to live in this area.

Scene Of A Recent House Fire

After visiting the park and photographing ducks and geese we ran across evidence of a recent house fire that damaged three homes.

Wintering Ducks and Geese

These were taken at a playa lake, one of many around town. It is going dry, like all the others. 

These migrating birds are losing habitat, thanks to the drought.
